airberlin: More guests per flight in 2012

2013-01-09 — /travelprnews.com/ — In 2012, airberlin increased its capacity utilization rate by 1.6 percentage points over the previous year, to 79.80 percent, and was therefore able to welcome more guests on board per flight. Over the 2012 period, airberlin has reduced its capacity in a targeted manner by eliminating unprofitable routes and has optimized flight frequencies by 7.4 percent in yearly comparison. In this manner, the capacity utilization rate increased, since airberlin transported 2012 a total of 33,346,495 guests, i.e. only 5.5 percent less than in the previous year (2011: 35,300,209 guests).

In December 2012, airberlin increased its capacity utilization rate by 3.1 percentage points over the previous year. Germany’s second-largest airline company reduced its capacity in December by 12.1 percent, to 2,375,083 seats, in yearly comparison. In December 2012, airberlin transported 1,848,313 flight-guests, i.e. only 8.5 percent less than in the corresponding month of the previous year. airberlin thus increased its flight capacity utilization in December 2012 to 77.82 percent.
