Budapest, Hungary, 2020-Nov-03 — /Travel PR News/ — The series of developments implemented at Ferenc Liszt International Airport has arrived at another milestone; the foundation stone of a new hangar for Aeroplex of Central Europe Aircraft Technology Center Ltd. was laid during a ceremony today (2020.10.29). The new aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) base increases maintenance capacities at Budapest Airport by 8000 m2, which will be available to partners from February 2022.

Aeroplex is establishing a new MRO hangar with a floor space of more than 8000 m2 at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport. The hangar will be able to accommodate one wide body or four narrow body aircraft at the same time, and experts will be able to perform maintenance works on nearly all aircraft types. The new hangar will be located next to the existing MRO hangars, between Terminals 1 and 2.

The development fits perfectly into Aeroplex’s strategy that the fundamental and definitive factor for growth is diversification. The new hangar brings a new capability, the expansion of Aeroplex’s capacity and existing lines of business, whereby it will now be able to accommodate and maintain code E wide body aircraft as well, which is unique to them at Budapest Airport.

“The state-owned company is progressing along a clear path of growth, which is undoubtedly based on its diversified business strategy and the profit-oriented approach of management,” said deputy minister Dr. János Fónagy. Dr. Fónagy emphasized that the new hangar, which will be unique in Hungary in terms of size, and the related development will further strengthen growth. “This strategic investment, to be completed at the beginning of 2022, creates 200 new jobs, and supports our aim of ensuring that Hungary should be at the forefront of aircraft maintenance in Europe,” the deputy minister highlighted.

Dr. Katalin Simon, executive director for the Hungarian National Asset Management Company, stated that the continuous growth and the results achieved by Aeroplex Ltd. are an example to follow in state asset management.

“Aeroplex has been a member of the airport community for nearly 30 years now. Through continuous development, the company has contributed significantly to us becoming one of the most dynamically developing airports in the region,” said Dr. Rolf Schnitzler, the CEO of Budapest Airport during the foundation stone ceremony. “We are therefore delighted that our airport will soon house a high-quality service like what the new Aeroplex aircraft maintenance hangar will provide to clients,” he added.

Árpád Demény, the managing director of Aeroplex highlighted: “The cornerstones of Aeroplex’s strategy which has served as the basis of its growing trends over the past years are continuous and profit-oriented growth, diversification and capability enhancement. The new hangar will be a solid basis and a guarantee for the same trends going forward.”

Aeroplex of Central Europe Ltd. was established as an aircraft maintenance base in 1992 in Budapest. Thanks to the supportive work of management and the entire staff (of more than 600 employees) behind it, the company’s profits exceeded 500 million HUF last year, and this year is also progressing according to the plans. The re-planning also brought with it a change of operating culture, which combines the know-how inherent in the company and brought from the past with a profit-oriented approach.
