Aberdeen International Airport Launches Campaign to Gather Stories for Its 90th Anniversary Celebrations

(IN SHORT) Aberdeen International Airport, marking its 90th year since inception, has initiated a campaign inviting passengers and former colleagues to share their memorable experiences and stories associated with the airport over the years. The airport, a cornerstone of the community since its establishment in July 1934, plans various celebrations throughout the year. With a special 90th logo commissioned for the occasion, the airport aims to reminisce about its significant impact on the Granite City and acknowledge the transformations it has undergone. Mark Beveridge, Operations Director, encourages former colleagues and passengers to contribute their stories, which will shape celebration events planned for later in the year. Founded by Eric Gander Dower, known as the “Father of Aberdeen Airport,” the airport’s rich history is poised to be celebrated through the shared memories of those connected to it. Those interested in participating can share their stories via email to community@aiairport.com.

(PRESS RELEASE) Aberdeen, UK, 2024-Feb-27 — /Travel PR News/ — Passengers and former colleagues are being asked to share their stories of Aberdeen International Airport as it kicks off its 90th year.

The North East’s largest transport hub has been at the heart of the community since it began operations in July 1934 when Lord Arbuthnott officially opened it.

Several celebrations are planned for throughout the year but the airport is asking former colleagues to share their stories of their time working at the airport.

Also known as a Granite Anniversary the airport wants passengers from the Granite City to get involved and share their memories.

To kick off celebrations a special 90th logo was commissioned for use throughout the year.

Mark Beveridge, Operations Director at Aberdeen International Airport, said: “We know the city and airport have both changed so much in the last 90 years.

“As the current custodians of the airport it feels right that we look to reflect and celebrate the impact the airport has had.

“It is also very fitting that the airport in the Granite City is celebrating it’s Granite Anniversary.

“We want as many former colleagues to get in touch and for passengers to share their stories throughout the years.

“This will help us as we look to plan some celebration events for later in the year.”

Aberdeen International Airport was founded by Eric Gander Dower who was dubbed “Father of Aberdeen Airport” in press cuttings in 1934 when he welcomed then Prime Minister Ramsay MacDonald to the airport.

Anyone wishing to get in touch and share their stories is asked to e-mail community@aiairport.com
