(NEWS) BANGKOK, 2025-Dec-2 — /Travel PR News/ — Bangkok’s posh Thonglor district has welcomed a new design-driven boutique destination with the opening of Metropole Bangkok, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel, marking the debut of Marriott Bonvoy’s Tribute Portfolio brand in Thailand. Reimagined through the glamorous lens of 1920s Shanghai, the hotel blends colonial architectural charm with Art Deco flourishes and Chinoiserie motifs, creating an immersive cultural narrative that stands out amid the district’s modern energy. Inspired by the era when Shanghai was hailed as the “Paris of the East,” the hotel’s interiors feature guardian lions, dragons, floral artistry and romantic Eastern symbolism, all woven together through an original storyline — the “Memoirs of Meiying,” a tale of cross-cultural love between a Shanghainese woman and an English traveler. This narrative anchors the design language and brings a sense of cinematic intrigue to each space.
The opening was celebrated by Marriott International as a milestone for the Tribute Portfolio brand in Thailand. Brad Edman, the company’s Market Vice President for Thailand, Cambodia & Myanmar, noted that the brand’s emphasis on independent character and storytelling hospitality makes it a natural fit for Thonglor, one of Bangkok’s most trend-conscious neighborhoods. Metropole Bangkok’s 116 rooms — including studios, a Studio Executive Suite and a One-Bedroom Suite — come equipped with kitchenettes, smart toilets and complimentary Wi-Fi, catering to both extended-stay guests and short-term travelers. Guests also have access to a 24-hour fitness center, an outdoor pool, sauna and on-site parking.
Positioned for convenience, the hotel offers easy access to major transit lines including the Thonglor BTS station and Petchaburi MRT, as well as a 40-minute drive to Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Its location near Bangkok’s health-care corridor also makes it appealing to medical travelers, supported by a complimentary shuttle to Bangkok Hospital and Samitivej Hospital. Cluster General Manager Sascha Kunze emphasized that Metropole Bangkok is designed to evoke the elegance and romance of a bygone era while welcoming guests into the vibrant modern culture of Thonglor, offering a unique blend of storytelling, style and local connectivity.
