Zurich Airport announced it handled 2,272,003 passengers during September 2013

Zurich, Switzerland, 2013-10-14 — /travelprnews.com/ — Traffic Figures: 2,272,003 passengers were handled at Zurich Airport during September 2013, a loss of 0.7% versus September 2012. The year to date passenger growth stands at +0.3%.

O&D or local passengers (originating or departing from Zurich) increased by 1.9% to 1,553,252 compared to previous September (YTD +2.1%). Transfer passengers decreased by 6.0% to 710,624 in September (YTD -3.1%). The transfer rate which was at 33.1% last September is currently at 31.3% (YTD 33.0%).

Air traffic movements (ATM’s) decreased by -1.9% to 23,136 in September versus previous year (YTD -2.8%). The decrease divides into a decrease of 1.0% for airlines (YTD – 1.9%) and a decrease of 6.9% for general aviation (YTD -8.5%).

The average passenger per movement figure (airline passengers only) currently is at 113.3 (113.0 previous year) or 109.5 YTD (107.2 previous year). The average seat load factor saw a decrease of 0.7 percentage points to 77.7% (YTD 75.6%).

Commercial Activities

Total turnover (net sales to consumers) during September was CHF 47.3 (+3.1% versus previous year). Turnover per departing passenger in September was CHF 41.6, which is 3.8 percent higher than last year. Year to date September, total turnover saw an increase of 4.5% to CHF 402.0m and turnover per departing passenger increased by 4.2 percent to CHF 42.3.
