The upgraded service provides more frequent and accessible journeys alongside affordable £5.80 Dayrider fares for airport passengers. The partnership also introduces new Doric-inspired signage across airport facilities and continues support for the airport’s annual Runway Run charity event.
(PRESS RELEASE) ABERDEEN, Scotland, 2026-May-13 — /Travel PR News/ — Aberdeen International Airport and Stagecoach Group have launched a major upgrade to the popular 727 bus route, creating what is described as Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire’s first continuous 24-hour cross City-Shire bus service.
The refreshed Service 727 now operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, connecting Portlethen, Aberdeen city centre, and Aberdeen International Airport with more frequent, reliable, and accessible transport options for passengers.
The enhanced route is designed to provide an affordable and convenient travel alternative for airport passengers, commuters, and residents travelling between Aberdeen and surrounding Aberdeenshire communities.
Passengers travelling between Union Square Bus Station and Aberdeen International Airport can use a Stagecoach Dayrider ticket priced at £5.80, offering a significantly lower-cost option compared with taxi travel and helping travellers avoid airport parking expenses.
As part of the expanded partnership between the airport and Stagecoach, new customer signage and branding have also been introduced throughout key passenger areas.
The refreshed branding includes Doric-inspired messaging featuring the phrase “Faar ye gaan?” at airport bus stops, alongside new information displays at airport baggage reclaim areas promoting the value and convenience of the 727 route for arriving passengers.
William Mainus, Commercial Director for Stagecoach North Scotland, said the strengthened partnership with Aberdeen International Airport and the increased service frequency are expected to improve connectivity and encourage greater use of public transportation throughout the region.
He added that the upgraded 727 service forms part of Stagecoach’s broader “Roadmap to Recovery” strategy aimed at delivering reliable, affordable, and accessible public transport services across Aberdeenshire and beyond.
Stagecoach also confirmed its continued support for Aberdeen International Airport’s annual Runway Run event scheduled for 20 June 2026. The event allows participants to access and run directly on the airport runway while raising funds for local charities.
Robert Paterson, Operations Director at Aberdeen International Airport, stated that the new 24/7 service provides passengers with a sustainable transport option for both early morning departures and late-night arrivals.
He added that the partnership with Stagecoach continues to improve customer travel experiences while incorporating local identity through the newly installed Doric-themed signage.
The revised 727 service further strengthens transport links between Aberdeen city centre, Aberdeenshire communities, and one of Scotland’s key regional airports while supporting more sustainable regional mobility options.
