Whistler Blackcomb awarded top honors to its corporate partners in its Partner Marketing Awards

WHISTLER, BC, 2016-Jan-18 — /Travel PR News/ — Labatt, Monster Energy, TELUS, Quiksilver, Stanley Black & Decker, GoPro and Oakley were awarded top honors at Whistler Blackcomb’s Partner Marketing Awards held on December 9, 2015. Categories included: Most Innovative Activation, Best Employee Engagement, Best Bang for the Buck, Best Integration of Talent, Best Summer Activation, Best In-Market Promotion and Best Social Activation. The awards also introduced two new categories this year: Moving the Dial and Best in Class.

Moving the Dial is a category to recognize those partners whose efforts drove sales directly to Whistler Blackcomb business units. Oakley captured the inaugural title for their Oakley Week activation that featured women’s specific snowboard camps, athlete signings at Showcase Snowboards, social media contesting and on-site demo centres.

The second new category was the Best in Class honour that recognized the partner who embraced the partnership across all channels. Labatt took home the top prize for their consistent, year-round efforts across all seasons, activation on site and in-market as well as across their social channels.

“We are extremely honoured to have been voted Best in Class at the partner awards this year,” says Shaun Fomenoff, Customer Marketing Manager for Labatt Breweries Canada. “It is great to see the hard work of our team being recognized, but there would be no award if not for the hard work and dedication to our brands from the Whistler Blackcomb Strategic Alliance team.”

Labatt also earned the Most Innovative Activation for their Peak Brew campaign, a program that featured brewing batches of Kokanee with snow from Whistler Blackcomb. Custom cans featuring Whistler Blackcomb and a comprehensive marketing plan that included video content with local athlete Rory Bushfield highlighted the promotion.

Monster Energy took the title for Best Integration of Talent by building a custom made jump in Whistler Blackcomb’s iconic 7th Heaven zone that allowed one of their athletes, snowboarder Max Parrot, to land the world’s first quadruple underflip 1620.

Stanley Black and Decker won the Employee Engagement category thanks to their new Employee Ambassador program, which gave the Whistler Blackcomb landscaping team access to the new line of Stanley landscaping tools for testing and reporting feedback to the manufacturer.

The Best Summer Activation was presented to GoPro for the GoPro Go Show competition held on the May Long Weekend. The contest featured six athletes creating videos showcasing the different activities available in Whistler in May, including snow, dirt and water, using only a GoPro camera.

The Best In-Market Promotion was captured by Monster Energy for their on-pack Win a Trip With Aggy promotion that gave consumers the chance to win a trip to the Whistler Mountain Bike Park in the summer and ride with Monster athlete and professional mountain biker, Graham Aggassiz.

TELUS was awarded the Best Bang for Your Buck award for their Lost and Found Surprise and Delight campaign. The program worked closely with the Whistler Blackcomb Lost and Found, giving away five brand new smartphones to TELUS customers who had lost their phones on the mountain.

Quiksilver took home the Best Social Activation for their #RoxyinWhistler contest. The contest was held on Instagram, and allowed women to win a trip to Whistler to snowboard with Roxy and Whistler Blackcomb athlete, Robin Van Gyn. The winners’ trip to Whistler was documented by a photographer and videographer, creating engaging social content following the conclusion of the contest.

“The purpose of the Partner Marketing Awards is to recognize the efforts of our partners and encourage them to leverage their relationship with Whistler Blackcomb to showcase world class activations,” says Morag Kerr, Manager of Strategic Alliances and Partner Marketing at Whistler Blackcomb. “We were thrilled with the collection of events and activations all of our partners have executed at Whistler Blackcomb over the past year.”
