Travelport Agent of the Future Announced

Sydney, Australia, 2012-12-18 — /travelprnews.com/ — Travelport, the business services provider to the global travel industry, has announced the 2012 Agent of the Future.

Rajina Almeida from Bankstown TAFE in New South Wales has been recognised as Australasia’s most outstanding travel and tourism student from more than 60 tertiary colleges in Australia and New Zealand that offer Galileo GDS courses.  She was nominated by her teacher, Fiona Cox, winning over 26 other strong nominations to be named Travelport Agent of the Future.

Travelport’s Agent of the Future program has been underway for more than 10 years, and incentivises students to reach high standards of excellence in their studies. Teachers are invited to nominate outstanding students for the award, and three finalists are selected by a judging panel appointed by Travelport.

“Judging was particularly difficult this year, with so many excellent nominees,” said Alex Fitzpatrick, General Manager, Travelport Pacific. “It is great to see the depth of talent among today’s students and their passion for the travel industry. We look forward to continuing our support for the learning and development of young professionals in the business.”

“I am really excited about carving out a career path in the travel industry. I’m really passionate about travel, and travel extensively every year. This achievement further motivates me to pursue a Diploma and combine my existing corporate skills for a future career in travel and tourism,” said Rajina Almeida, Travelport Agent of the Future Winner.

Also announced this week was the Instructor of the Year, Paula Howard from William Angliss Institute, Victoria who was one of 19 educators nominated by her students.  Both award winners will receive return airfares for two to Hamilton Island and five night’s accommodation at Hamilton Island Palm Bungalows.

The announcement follows a week-long series of Learning and Development Forums hosted by Travelport with educators in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.  Forty-five educators from around Australia attended the sessions, which focused on the latest CRS content for their teaching delivery in 2013.
