Traditional Russian dessert Tula honey-cake now available in Aeroflot’s onboard menu

Moscow, 2017-Jun-02 — /Travel PR News/ — Tula confectionary plant Yasnaya Polyana and JSC Aeromar – Aeroflot’s onboard catering supplier – today (31 May 2017) signed a partnership agreement. The signing ceremony was attended by the governor of Russia’s Tula region Alexei Dyumin and CEO of Aeroflot Vitaly Saveliev.

Under the agreement the traditional Russian dessert Tula honey-cake will be included in Aeroflot’s onboard menu. Aeroflot catering is regularly recognised as one of the best in global aviation.

Aeroflot’s onboard menus are designed by world-renowned chefs and have recently been substantially updated to include additional Russian choices. A new comprehensive Russian menu will be offered on flights departing from Moscow.

Aeroflot decided to offer Tula honey-cake onboard, and Aeromar held a competition to select a supplier from the Tula region, which meets the company’s requirements.

The new dessert will be offered on Aeroflot flights starting from June 1 when the new Russian menu is introduced. Tula honey-cake with fruit filling in an Aeroflot-branded wrap will be served as part of a hot lunch in economy class on flights from Moscow lasting three or more hours.

The agreement will help promote the Aeroflot brand as Russia’s national carrier and Tula as a unique Russian region, which makes a number of products that have gained worldwide fame and are historically associated with Russia.

Governor of the Tula region Alexei Dyumin said:

“We are proud to see that one of the symbols of our region – Tula honey-cake – will be offered on Aeroflot flights. For the Tula region, a partnership with Russia’s leading airline will create sizeable, consistent demand for Tula confectionary products, and will also make a great contribution to preserving our traditions. I would like to thank Aeroflot’s management for supporting domestic manufacturers and cooperating with our region. It is important for us that Tula products are recognised not only in Russia, but around the world.”

CEO of Aeroflot Vitaly Saveliev said during the signing ceremony:

“We welcome Tula honey-cake onboard Aeroflot. This decision reflects the wishes of our passengers, who have spoken in favour of including a wider range of Russian cuisine in our catering service. Aeroflot is a symbol of Russia and has been recognised as the country’s strongest brand. We aim to make a positive contribution to Russia’s image in the world, particularly as we look ahead to hosting the 2018 FIFA World Cup. I am grateful to the governor of the Tula region for supporting this initiative.”
