Visit the Philadelphia Zoo for the Region’s Most Festive Halloween Celebration
PHILADELPHIA, PA, 2013-10-04 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Philadelphia Zoo will host its annual two-weekend “Boo at the Zoo” Halloween celebration on Saturday, October 19th, Sunday, October 20th, Saturday, October 26th and Sunday, October 27th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
During “Boo at the Zoo” children are encouraged to come in costume, visit their favorite animals and trick-or-treat at stations throughout the Zoo, collecting sweets and treats generously donated by: Mars, Herr’s, Peanut Chews, Honest Tea, Cabot Creamery and more. “Boo at the Zoo” will also feature storytelling, games, crafts and live performances from Fisher-Price® Presents “Live from Little People Place!” on the Fisher Price® Little People Stage at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. each day. At 3:30 p.m. there will be a meet and greet with the Fisher Price Little People on Impala Lawn.
Set out on a scarecrow scavenger hunt and discover your favorite animals in the form of life-size scarecrows. Guests can also take their picture in front of a giant pumpkin wall and visit the spooky cemetery and haunted Zoo house. New this year, be sure to stop by the penguin pumpkin patch for a creative demonstration of recycling with a milk cartoon igloo. Guests in costume are invited to participate in a parade at noon throughout parts of the Zoo.
“Boo at the Zoo is a fun way to celebrate Halloween while visiting your favorite animals,” says Amy Shearer, Chief Marketing Officer. “We have a lot of activities planned, so there is fun to be had by all! It is one of the best times to come to the Zoo, and a great way to welcome the fall.”
The Zoo is also welcoming autumn with its annual “Beast Feast” celebration during the first two weekends of October. Watch as Zoo animals play with, eat and enjoy pumpkins and other seasonal treats to celebrate fall on October 5th, 6th, 12th and 13th. See the magnificent big cats frolicking with their pumpkins or a great ape tossing one around its exhibit. Pumpkins are graciously donated by Linvilla Orchards, and animals will receive a pumpkin every half hour between 10am and 3:30pm.
