Susanne Hatje Appointed General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, New York

Hong Kong, 2013-06-18 — /travelprnews.com/ — Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is delighted to announce the appointment of Susanne Hatje as General Manager of its North American flagship hotel, Mandarin Oriental, New York, effective today.

Ms. Hatje has over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry and has held senior management positions at Mandarin Oriental for the past 13 years. She joins Mandarin Oriental, New York from her previous post as Group Director of Residences, where she successfully managed all aspects of the Group’s global portfolio of The Residences at Mandarin Oriental. Previously, Hatje was the launch General Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Boston and The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, where she effectively positioned the hotels amongst the top luxury properties in their markets. She was also General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Munich and Resort Manager at Kahala Mandarin Oriental, Hawaii. Earlier in her career, Hatje worked in New York City as Assistant Manager of The Mark, New York, when the property was part of Rafael Hotels Ltd.

Ms. Hatje succeeds Jan Goessing, who is being promoted to Executive Vice President, Operations Director, The Americas, effective 1 July 2013. Commenting on Hatje’s appointment, Goessing said, “Mandarin Oriental, New York has an outstanding reputation as one of the world’s finest hotels and it requires a dynamic and accomplished General Manager to ensure its continued success. With many years of leadership and brand experience, as well as her charisma and commitment to excellence, Susanne is ideally positioned to steer Mandarin Oriental’s North American flagship hotel.”

A German national, Ms. Hatje joined the hotel industry in 1988 as an apprentice at Atlantic Hotel Kempinski in Hamburg. While advancing her career, Susanne has furthered her education with a hospitality management programme at New York’s Cornell University and has also received a Masters of Business Administration from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Australia.
