Sofia Airport launched winter schedule – new airline with tourist flights to Sofia

2012-12-06 — /travelprnews.com/ — Sofia Airport launched schedule “Winter 2012/13”.

The airport offers direct flights to 42 destinations, operated by 19 airlines.

To Vienna – 52 flights per week are provided by three carriers – Austrian Airlines (32), NIKI(17) and Bulgaria Air (3).

Passengers travelling to London can choose between four airlines – two traditional (Bulgaria Air and British Airways) and two low-cost (Wizz Air and easyJet). Flights to the capital city of the United Kingdom will increase to 30 flights per week as of 16 February 2013 when easyJet will start operating flights on its new direct route to Stansted.

During winter, 21 flights per week will be operated to Munich.

The schedule to Frankfurt includes 14 flights – daily ones operated by Lufthansa, five flights per week operated by Bulgaria Air and two operated by Wizz Air to Frankfurt Hahn.

Daily flights from Sofia to Paris – Charles de Gaulle are operated by Air France and Bulgaria Air operates flights to Paris Beauvais twice a week.

Flights to Moscow are 14 per week, to Brussels and Athens – 12, Istanbul and Bucharest – 11, and to Rome and Milan – 10 flights per week for each destination.

The other destinations that Sofia Airport offers convenient daily flights to during winter areAmsterdam, Berlin, Warsaw, Kiev, and Madrid.

Qatar Airways provides convenient connections from Sofia to popular sunny destinations in the Middle East and Far East – four flights per week.

Every day winter schedule includes three flights to Varna and one to Burgas.

Winter charter programme

Winter schedule 2012/13 provides for charter flights to 10 destinations that will be operated by seven carriers.

Most tourists are expected to come from the United Kingdom – London, Manchester, Bristol,Newcastle, East Midlands.

For the first time this year, airline Smart Wings will operate flights to Sofia carrying Polish tourists from Warsaw to Bulgarian ski resorts.

Cargo flights will be operated by five airlines to eight destinations. Czech Airlines will continue to operate cargo flights to Prague launched in March 2012.
