Sochi 2014: Former world champion Sarah Hendrickson admits that she looks up to Japanese rival Sara Takanashi

Sochi, Russia, 2014-2-7 — /travelprnews.com/ — Former world champion Sarah Hendrickson admits that she looks up to Japanese rival Sara Takanashi.

Hendrickson tore knee ligaments in a fall last August and in her absence, the 17-year-old Takanashi has won 10 rounds in the defence of her World Cup title.

“I really look up to Sara. She’s a tough competitor and an amazing athlete,” said the American.

“Her results say it all. She gets tons of media pressure but everyday she just brushes it off and goes out and jumps.

Hendrickson, the 2013 world champion, only jumped again for the first time after her surgery on January 11.

For the first time in the history of the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, women’s’ ski jumping competitions will be held on the K-95 ski jump at the RusSki Gorki complex. The format is the same as for the men’s’ competitions: 3 rounds (Trial round, 1st competition round, Final round). The winner is defined as the woman who achieved the maximum score at the end of the competitions.

The gold medal event will take place on February 11, where athletes from around the world will battle for the top place.
