(NEWS) SEOUL, South Korea, 2026-Apr-14 — /Travel PR News/ — Airlines are increasingly turning to internal engagement initiatives as part of broader integration strategies, with community-focused events playing a role in aligning workforces and reinforcing shared values.
On April 14, Korean Air and Asiana Airlines jointly hosted a charity running event in Incheon, bringing together employees from both carriers ahead of their planned integration. The event, titled “We Run,” took place at the BMW Driving Center and was supported by Boeing.
Around 1,500 staff members participated, including flight crew and administrative personnel, taking part in 5 km and 10 km runs designed to emphasise collaboration rather than competition. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to foster a unified corporate culture as the two airlines move closer toward operational integration.
According to details shared by the organisers, the event also served as a platform for social impact. Funds were raised for Make-A-Wish Korea, with total donations reaching KRW 30 million based on the combined distance covered by participants, which exceeded 8,400 kilometres.
To accommodate employees unable to attend in person, the airlines introduced a virtual participation option, allowing crew members across global operations to contribute remotely by logging their runs through mobile applications. This approach enabled broader engagement across the workforce, including those on active duty schedules.
The event reflects a wider trend within the aviation industry, where companies undergoing structural changes are placing greater emphasis on employee engagement and corporate social responsibility. By combining internal integration efforts with charitable initiatives, organisations are seeking to strengthen both workforce cohesion and community connections.
