Air India Partners with WestJet to Expand Seamless Travel Options Across Canada and United States

The agreement allows passengers to book single-ticket journeys with coordinated baggage handling, enabling seamless connections beyond Toronto and Vancouver to over 30 destinations across Canada and the United States. The partnership also leverages Air India’s European gateways to expand access to additional cities. With 17 weekly flights to Canada and a strong European network, Air India aims to improve travel convenience and offer more flexible routing options. The collaboration reflects growing demand for travel between India and North America and strengthens the global reach of both airlines.

(PRESS RELEASE) GURUGRAM, 2026-Apr-17 — /Travel PR News/ — Air India has established a new interline agreement with WestJet, expanding travel options between India and North America by enabling seamless onward connections beyond Toronto and Vancouver.

The partnership allows passengers to book journeys on a single ticket that combines flights operated by both airlines. This integration simplifies the travel experience through coordinated baggage handling and smoother transfers, offering greater convenience for passengers traveling across multiple destinations.

Under the agreement, travelers flying with Air India to Canada can connect onward via WestJet to a broad network of destinations, including 17 cities across Canada and 14 cities in the United States. These include major hubs such as Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa, and Halifax in Canada, as well as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Las Vegas in the United States.

In addition to direct connections through Toronto and Vancouver, the partnership also enhances connectivity via key European gateways served by Air India, including Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, London Heathrow Airport, and London Gatwick Airport. From these hubs, passengers can access further WestJet connections to Canadian cities such as Halifax, Calgary, and St. John’s.

Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer at Air India, emphasized the importance of Canada as a strategic market, highlighting strong cultural and economic ties between the two countries. He noted that the collaboration with WestJet significantly broadens destination choices while simplifying the overall travel experience.

John Weatherill, Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer at the WestJet Group, stated that the agreement enhances connectivity between India and North America by combining Air India’s long-haul network with WestJet’s extensive regional reach, creating new travel opportunities and improving journey efficiency for passengers.

Air India currently operates 17 weekly non-stop flights to Canada, including 10 services to Toronto and 7 to Vancouver. The airline also maintains a strong European network, with 75 weekly flights to major hubs that facilitate onward travel under the interline agreement.

Passengers can book these combined itineraries through Air India’s official website, mobile application, and travel agents worldwide.
