Sheremetyevo Airport presents its key projects at the major “Russian Transport” exhibition

2012-12-18 — /travelprnews.com/ — Sheremetyevo International Airport is taking part in the VI International Exhibition: “Russian Transport 2012,” starting today — 6 December 2012 — in Moscow (Gostiny Dvor).

Sheremetyevo Airport is taking part in the “Russian Transport” exhibition with its signature exhibition booth, executed with the help of modern technologies and innovation solutions. The booth embodies the airport’s fundamental performance principles: high service level for passengers and partners, innovation integration and continuous development.

The booth showcases Sheremetyevo Airport’s key projects — in particular, the project involving the construction of a third runway (R-3), which is of strategic importance in terms of increasing airport capacity.

The R-3 will stretch 3200 m long and 60 m wide, enabling aircraft of almost all types, including mid- and long-range airplanes, to take-off and land.

On 28 August 2012, the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) issued the permit for construction of the third runway (R-3) complex at Sheremetyevo International Airport to Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Administration of Civil Airports (Airdromes)” (FSUE “ACA (A)”). FSUE “ACA (A)” is acting as the Customer-Developer of works under the project, while Closed Joint-Stock Company “Engineering Corporation “Transstroy” is serving as the Contractor.

R-3 construction will allow us to develop a harmonious hub schedule and ensure comprehensive development of the national air carrier “Aeroflot” and other Sheremetyevo Airport partner airlines, as well as to increase annual passenger-service capacity to 65 mln people by 2030 and balance passenger terminal capacity with Sheremetyevo airdrome capacity.

Moreover, Sheremetyevo Airport is using the exhibition opportunity to showcase its Airport Control Centre, which, since opening in December 2011, has received recognition from the business community and earned several prestigious business awards.

“Russian Transport 2012” Exhibition — takes place 6-8 December 2012 in Moscow. It represents the main event in the country’s transportation industry and is one of the most effective platforms for the discussion of current issues in the transportation industry of the Russian Federation, as well as for productive dialogue between business and government.

Moderator — Russian Federation Ministry of Transportation. Conferences for specialists, a plenary session dedicated to strategic transportation objectives and workshops are included in the forum business program.

According to the findings of the Airport Service Quality research program conducted by ASQ ACI at the end of 2011, Sheremetyevo Airport ranked among the top ten European airports.

According to the annual rating prepared by Skytrax Research Company (UK), Sheremetyevo International Airport ranks among the top three Eastern European airports in terms of service quality.
