Washington, DC, U.S.A. – 2012-12-10 — /travelprnews.com/ — The seventh-annual Georgetown Jingle will take place on December 16, 2012, at Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC. The family-friendly holiday extravaganza, hosted each year by Four Seasons and the design community, benefits Medstar Georgetown University Hospital’s pediatric oncology programs.
Each year, Washington’s interior design community comes together to support the event. Top designers festoon a total of 17 holiday-themed trees and vignettes in the Hotel’s lobby. Arlington-based designer Michael Roberson is the 2012 design chair and selected, with her committee, the participating designers. This year, Sandi Hoffman of Sandi R. Hoffman Special Events created the majestic centre tree in the Hotel lobby. The theme for her centre tree is “The Shaker Abecedarious” based on the 1880s children’s alphabet book A Peaceable Kingdom by Alice Provensen.
The other 2012 participating designers, with their themes, are:
The Georgetown Jingle offers something for everyone. This year, the Georgetown Jingle will be held in Seasons restaurant and will be presented in two acts. The first act, Winter Wonderland, a family-centric afternoon, will be from 1:00 to 4:00 pm and the second act, Pamala Live!, an adulst only cabaret evening, will be from 7:00 to 11:00 pm.
During Winter Wonderland, families and children can decorate holiday treats and do craft projects. Children’s crafts are hosted by Barnara Franceski, LLC, Camille Saum Interior Design, Elizabeth Krial Design, Timothy Paul Bedding + Home, Niermann Weeks and SCW Interiors. Family entertainment by Pamala Stanley, Clover Stieve, Captain America, Spiderman, Frosty the Snowman and others is not to be missed. Children will also enjoy sweet holiday treats provided by Georgetown Cupcake, PAUL Bakery and Dolci Gelati; and let’s not forget pictures with Santa, courtesy of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty.
During the adults-only second act “Pamala Live!”, guests will enjoy live entertainment by the singing sensation Pamela Stanley. Pamela Stanley will be performing her hit show Diva. Guests will also sample culinary creations and libations from top area chefs and restaurants including BOURBON STEAK, Rouge 24, Proof, Bibiana Osteria Enoteca, Graffiato, The Source and more. In addition to these gourmet tastings, Four Seasons offers delectable passed hors d’oeuvres and an open bar courtesy of Blue Moon.
The designer-created trees and vignettes are included in the events silent auction, along with items from the following categories; great escapes, signed memorabilia, must-have toys, luxury gifts and indulgences, and dine an unwind.
Washington-area Toyota dealers, courtesy of DARCARS Automotive Group, donated a Toyota Prius c as the grand prize for this year’s raffle drawing. Raffle tickets are USD 50.00 each, and only 2,000 tickets will be sold. Remaining tickets will be available for purchase at the Georgetown Jingle events. The winning ticket will be selected at the event and the winner will not need to be present to claim the prize.
The Georgetown Jingle benefits the pediatric programs at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. The funds raised by the 2011 Jingle have established a pediatric bone marrow transplant unit in collaboration with Duke University Hospital, funded unique patient rooms that inspire and support the healing process and funded the special initiatives for the Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program.
The funds raised by the 2012 Georgetown Jingle will continue to support the operational and training facilities for the Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. This year the event expands its support to include the growth of social worker and educator support in the pediatric palliative care program to provide the highest quality of life for children and families throughout the course of illness. The programs are directed by Dr. Aziza Shad, one of the region’s most respected oncologists.
Over the past six years, the Georgetown Jingle has raised USD 1.5 million for these pediatric programs. This charitable event helps spotlight childhood cancer, the leading cause of death among US children between infancy and age 15. The 2012 event chair is Donna Shank, the mother of Daniel Shank-Rowe, a Medstar Georgetown University Hospital Patient Ambassador and cancer survivor.
Tickets are USD 150.00 per person, USD 350.00 for families of four, USD 50.00 for kids 3-18, and free for children under 2. The ticket price includes all event features – food, open bar, entertainment, tree/vignette displays, silent auction and much more.
