Rendezvous Hospitality Group Announces Senior Staff Structure Changes

2012-12-11 — /travelprnews.com/ — Rendezvous Hospitality Group (RHG) has announced six management changes to strengthen the Australian management team.

In making the announcement, Chief Executive Officer, Eric Teng said the changes are the latest step in the Company’s commitment to growth.

“We are dedicated to being the hotel group of choice for the discerning traveller for business or leisure and we are investing our resources to make this happen,” Mr Teng said.

Described as “an invaluable member of RHG”, the Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations Mr Geoffrey Johnstone has announced his retirement after five years with the Company. Mr Johnstone joined RHG in 2007 as General Manager, Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne and was promoted to Regional Vice President Operations Australia/New Zealand in 2009, a role that he held until his promotion to his current role.

The departure of Mr Johnstone comes as a great sadness to the Hotel Group, however Mr Johnstone will continue to make a contribution from January 2013 as RHG Company Director. Mr Johnstone’s retirement will be effective 31st December 2012 at which point he will pass the reigns onto Emilio Fortini.

General Manager at Rendezvous Grand Hotel Adelaide, Emilio Fortini will assume his role as Senior Vice President, Hotel Operations as of 1st January 2013. Mr Fortini joined RHG in July 2007 and has since served the organisation well in his role as General Manager at the former Marque Hotel Canberra, former Rendezvous Sanctuary Resort Broome, Rendezvous Grand Hotel Auckland as well as in his current role at Rendezvous Grand Hotel Adelaide.

Reporting to Mr Fortnini, Area General Manager in Brisbane Mr Justin Philip, will now take on the role of Area General Manager, Western Australia. Mr Philip joined the Rendezvous Hotel Brisbane Anzac Square as Director of Sales and Marketing in November 2008 and was promoted two years later to his current role, where he is responsible for both Rendezvous properties in Brisbane. Justin’s appointment will be effective from 21st January 2013.

Following three years of dedicated service to RHG in his role as General Manager at Rendezvous Reef Resort Port Douglas, Scott Wilkinson has been appointed General Manager of Rendezvous Grand Hotel Adelaide. Also reporting to Mr Fortini, Scott will assume his new role from 28th November 2012.

Effective from 29th November 2012, Luke Macdonald will take over from Mr Wilkinson as General Manager of Rendezvous Reef Resort Port Douglas. Mr Macdonald started his career with Rendezvous as Trust Accountant at the regional office in Sydney in July 2008 and during this time was transferred to a number of locations including Broome, Auckland and Port Douglas. Mr Macdonald brings with him well-developed skills in finance and operations as well as a solid understanding in general resort management. Mr Macdonald will report to the newly-appointed Area General Manager of Queensland, Mr Matthew Horvat.

Matthew Horvat joined RHG as part of the management team of the former Duxton Hotel Melbourne (now Rendezvous Grand Hotel Melbourne) and was promoted in February 2008 to Assistant General Manager Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne and then Area General Manager Brisbane. Mr Horvat’s most recent role with the Hotel Group commenced in January 2010 when he was transferred to Perth and appointed as Area General Manager, WA. Mr Horvat’s appointment as Area General Manager of Queensland will be effective from 21st of January 2013.
