Red Carnation Hotels acquires the Irish hotel Lisloughrey Lodge, County Mayo

Mayo, Ireland, 2014-1-24 — /travelprnews.com/ — Red Carnation Hotels is delighted to announce a second Irish hotel in its growing portfolio – Lisloughrey Lodge, County Mayo. The property sits within the 350 acre estate of Ashford Castle, which was acquired by the luxury boutique hotel collection in June last year and is currently undergoing a glorious renovation programme to reinforce its position as Ireland’s most luxurious destination hotel.

The hotel will be rebranded as The Lodge at Ashford Castle and will complement its sister hotel, providing a nearby alternative to the castle, while enabling guests to enjoy the benefits and facilities of the castle’s sprawling estate. Activities available include fishing, golf, falconry, clay pigeon shooting and horseriding, as well as the numerous watersports on Ireland’s largest lake, Lough Corrib, which the properties overlook.

Red Carnation Hotels is an award-winning collection of five and four-star hotels spearheaded by President and Founder Mrs Beatrice Tollman, who will personally oversee the implementation of the collection’s excellent standards of service, comfort and attention to detail at The Lodge at Ashford Castle.

Already extremely popular with the weddings market, the four-star Lodge at Ashford Castle is expected to attract a younger audience than its “Grand Dame” neighbour. Red Carnation Hotels is a member of The Travel Corporation, whose exceptional portfolio of award-winning international travel and tourism companies also includes a number of guided and escorted holiday operators including Trafalgar, Brendan Vacations, Insight Vacations, and Grand European. With this expertise, The Lodge at Ashford Castle will also specialise in welcoming guests from these upmarket touring brands.

With the acquisition of The Lodge at Ashford Castle, the ambitious refurbishment programme at Ashford and further investment from the likes of Emirates Airlines, who this week announced the increase of its schedule of weekly flights in to Dublin, there is a palpable optimism around Ireland’s tourism industry currently.

Jonathan Raggett, Managing Director of Red Carnation Hotels, commented:

“The Lodge at Ashford Castle is another fantastic addition to our portfolio and given its location within the Ashford estate, it makes total sense for us to bring it in the Red Carnation Hotels fold. We are fully committed to supporting the local community, increasing staff levels at the hotel by recruiting locally and using local suppliers and artisans as the source of our food, amenities and décor. We have a fantastic relationship with Tourism Ireland and are delighted to be able to invest in this vibrant and beautiful destination.”
