Qatar Airways to launch new daily service to St. Petersburg, Russia later this year

  • Home of the Tsars becomes the latest Russian destination for the award-winning carrier

DOHA, Qatar, 2017-Oct-09 — /Travel PR News/ — Qatar Airways is pleased to announce it will launch flights to the cultural capital of Russia, St. Petersburg, later this year, doubling the Russian routes operated by the five-star carrier. The new daily service, which starts on 19 December 2017, will operate between Doha and St. Petersburg with an Airbus A320, offering 12 flatbed seats in Business Class and 120 seats in Economy Class.

Sophisticated St. Petersburg is the jewel in the Russian ‘crown’, and home to the country’s incredible art collections, legendary Hermitage Museum, and internationally-recognised historic buildings. With its elegant canals and rich Imperial history to explore, St. Petersburg is sure to be an unmissable destination for both visitors and business travellers alike, thanks to its dynamic and growing economy.

Qatar Airways first started flying to Russia in 2004, and now, 13 years later, the airline offers three daily flights between Doha and Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport (DME).

The multiple award-winning carrier has many more exciting new destinations planned for the remainder of this year and 2018, including Canberra, Australia; Chiang Mai, Thailand and Cardiff, U.K., to name just a few.

Qatar Airways has received a number of major accolades this year, including Airline of the Year by the prestigious 2017 Skytrax World Airline Awards, which was held at the Paris Air Show. This is the fourth time that Qatar Airways has been given this global recognition as the world’s best airline. As well as being voted Best Airline by travellers from around the world, Qatar’s national flag carrier also won a raft of other major awards at the ceremony, including Best Airline in the Middle EastWorld’s Best Business Class and World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge.
