  • Educate A Child received QAR2.4 million in donations through the airline partnership in 2014

DOHA, Qatar, 2015-5-5 — /Travel PR News/ — Qatar Airways is proud to announce the launch of its online donation facility to support the ‘Educate A Child’ programme, further extending its partnership with the Education Above All Foundation.

Travellers can now donate online when booking a flight on Qatar Airways’ website, as well as using the on-board donation envelopes that are collected by the cabin crew. Qatar Airways’ in-flight entertainment system, its Oryx Magazine and social media networks are all being utilised to promote and create awareness about the new donation facility and the Educate A Child programme.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “Qatar Airways is honoured to partner with Educate A Child, and to support the Education Above All Foundation to achieve its goal to provide 10 million children with primary education by the end of the 2015/2016 school year. As Qatar’s national carrier we are proud to spread awareness around the world about this important programme.”

Travellers can donate online while booking their itinerary on Qatar Airways website www.qatarairways.com. When booking a small dialogue box will show the EAC donation options that vary from a minimum of USD1 to a maximum of  USD50.

Educate A Child received QAR2.4 million in November 2014 as a result of the Qatar Airways partnership. This year, the airline has introduced online donations to increase this charitable contribution even further and make it easier for passengers to donate in the future.

Educate A Child was launched in 2012 by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser as a global programme of the Education Above All Foundation and aims to significantly reduce the number of children worldwide who are denied their right to education. EAC works with partner organisations towards its mission to trigger substantial breakthroughs in providing out of school children faced with extreme poverty, cultural barriers and conflict affected environments an opportunity for a full curriculum of primary education.

Qatar Airways is a partner of Educate A Child, and offers its global communications platforms to EAC to reach over 23 million passengers per year, who fly on its network to 146 worldwide destinations, to realise its goals.
