(IN SHORT) Marriott International has announced the launch of its first global capability center (GCC), the Marriott Tech Accelerator, in Hyderabad, India, set to open in early 2025. This center aims to leverage Hyderabad’s rich tech talent to enhance Marriott’s global technology operations, engineering, and security systems across its extensive network in 141 countries. Drew Pinto, Marriott’s Executive Vice President, highlighted Hyderabad’s reputation as a major IT hub and expressed gratitude for the Telangana government’s support. The initiative aligns with Telangana’s goal to become a global leader in AI and data science, with the state boasting a talent pool of over one million tech professionals. This move marks a significant milestone in Marriott’s 25-year presence in India, which began with the opening of the Goa Marriott Resort and Spa in 1999, and supports the company’s plans to increase its room count from 29,000 to over 42,000 in the coming years. The center will be supported by ANSR, a specialist in establishing GCCs for global enterprises.
(PRESS RELEASE) Hyderabad, India, 2024-Oct-4 — /Travel PR News/ — Marriott International, Inc. (Nasdaq: MAR) has officially announced the establishment of its first-ever global capability center (GCC), the Marriott Tech Accelerator, in Hyderabad, Telangana. This strategic initiative aims to leverage the region’s wealth of tech expertise, further enhancing Marriott’s global technology operations, engineering capacity, and security frameworks across its extensive network spanning 141 countries and territories.
Drew Pinto, Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue & Technology Officer at Marriott International, emphasized the significance of Hyderabad as a technology hub. “We have selected Hyderabad for the Marriott Tech Accelerator due to its exceptional talent pool and reputation as a prominent IT center. We are grateful for the support from the Telangana government and look forward to enriching our technology workforce,” he stated.
Shri Duddila Sridhar Babu, Hon’ble Minister of Information Technology, Electronics, Communications, and Industries in Telangana, highlighted the state’s emergence as a global tech leader. “With over 200 GCCs driving innovation, Telangana boasts a talent pool of more than one million tech professionals ready for GCC roles, including 350,000 specialists in AI and chip design. This initiative aligns with our vision to position Telangana as a premier hub for AI, Data Science, and IIoT. We extend our gratitude to Marriott International for selecting Telangana for this important project,” he remarked.
The introduction of the Marriott Tech Accelerator signifies Marriott’s continued commitment to India, a relationship that dates back 25 years to the opening of the Goa Marriott Resort and Spa in 1999. Earlier this year, Marriott celebrated the launch of its 150th hotel in India, the Marriott Katra Resort and Spa. As part of its expansion strategy, the company plans to increase its room inventory from approximately 29,000 across 17 brands to over 42,000 in the coming years.
Ranju Alex, Area Vice President for South Asia at Marriott International, expressed pride in the company’s longstanding presence in India. “Celebrating 25 years in the Indian market is a significant milestone for us. We remain dedicated to expanding our footprint in India, with over 80 properties currently in development,” he said.
The Marriott Tech Accelerator is set to open its doors in early 2025, with support from ANSR, a leader in the establishment and operation of GCCs for global companies.
