Mandarin Oriental, Miami welcomes guests to enjoy contemporary Asian art exhibition “The Modern Utopia” during Art Basel Miami Beach, December 4-7, 2014

Hong Kong, 2014-10-6 — /Travel PR News/ — Mandarin Oriental, Miami welcomes guests to enjoy contemporary Asian art at a special exhibition titled “The Modern Utopia” during the prestigious Art Basel Miami Beach between December 4-7, 2014. Making its debut in MO Bar + Lounge, the exhibition celebrates the hotel’s Asian roots and reflects the expanding cultural interest and influence of eastern art.

Organized by Lexing Zhang of ART LEXÏNG Gallery of Miami, the Mandarin Oriental exhibition will feature original paintings that showcase ancient Chinese traditions as well as western influences. On view will be works by acclaimed Chinese artist Lu Chengxiang, who treads the boundary between old and new. Chengxiang’s ink paintings subtly introduce the restlessness of modernity into traditionally-inspired scenarios. “The Modern Utopia” exhibition collectively illustrates Chengxiang’s own portals between time periods and aesthetic methodologies. Symbols of prosperity, luck, wisdom and immortality flow freely through his paintings.

Additionally, MO Bar + Lounge will feature a special art-inspired menu of classic cocktails made with a modern twist, curated to reflect the infusion of contemporary elements in Chengxiang’s work. Highlights include the Twentieth Century cocktail made with gin, lillet blanc, crème de cacao, and fresh lemon and the Aviation with gin, maraschino, crème de violet, and lemon twist.

Guests staying at Mandarin Oriental, Miami will enjoy rates from USD 619 per night and receive a complimentary Mandarin Oriental Art Book in-room. For more information or reservations, please call +1 (305) 913 8288 or visit www.mandarinoriental.com.
