Lufthansa Tops Skytrax Awards as World’s Most Family-Friendly Airline and Best First Class Lounge

(IN SHORT) At the Paris Air Show, Lufthansa was voted the world’s most family-friendly airline and its First Class Terminal in Frankfurt was named the world’s best First Class lounge by Skytrax, based on a survey of 22.3 million passengers. Austrian Airlines won “Best Airline Staff in Europe” and Eurowings secured “Best Low Cost Airline in Europe.” Lufthansa enhances family travel with free, chef-designed kids’ menus (long-haul and short-haul Business Class), mascot-themed trays and interactive cards, a new toy range, multilingual teen magazines, and dedicated in-flight entertainment. In First Class, the Allegris suites on select long-haul routes offer personal climate control, lockable doors, extensive storage, and the world-exclusive Suite Plus double cabin. Upgraded lounges and check-in areas in Frankfurt and Munich round out Lufthansa’s premium service expansion.

Family Travel Enhancements
Lufthansa designs its youngest travellers’ experiences with care. Long-haul flights in all classes—and short-haul Business Class—offer complimentary kids’ menus, created by Gate Gourmet chefs and pre-orderable up to 24 hours before departure. These meals arrive on trays adorned with illustrations of our mascots “Lu” and “Cosmo,” and come with interactive menu cards that invite children to draw, solve puzzles, and learn about flight mechanics.

Onboard, children can enjoy a new toy collection—from cloud-shaped blankets for toddlers to puzzles and the “City, Country, Flight” game—as well as multilingual magazines for teens, a diverse in-flight entertainment selection (films, series, music, audiobooks, podcasts), and special amenity kits. Starting summer 2025, every child will receive a keepsake “Best Friend” boarding pass.

First Class Innovation
The standalone First Class Terminal in Frankfurt—complete with limousine transfers and personal assistants—epitomises Lufthansa’s premier offering. This summer, our long-haul aircraft debut the Lufthansa Allegris First Class suites on routes from Munich to San Francisco, Chicago, San Diego, Shanghai, and Bengaluru. These individual suites feature nearly one-metre–wide seats with personal heating and cooling, lockable doors, ceiling-high walls, generous storage wardrobes, living room–sized screens, and wireless over-ear headphones. The Suite Plus double cabin, a world-first, transforms two wide seats into a luxurious double bed, offering unparalleled privacy and comfort for solo or couple travellers.

This premium overhaul extends to brand-new First Class lounges in Munich and renovated check-in areas in Frankfurt and Munich, reinforcing Lufthansa’s commitment to exceptional luxury and personalised service.
