Warsaw, 2012-10-2 — /travelprnews.com/ — LOT Polish Airlines have been ranked among the safest airlines in the world, having fully met the requirements of the safety audit conducted by IATA (International Air Transport Association).

The auditing organization conducted a five-day safety audit (the so-called IOSA, i.e. IATA Operational Safety Audit) in all of LOT’s operational areas. It was the fifth such audit conducted on the Polish national carrier’s structures. It is the first time that the company has achieved such excellent audit results.

The auditors added that a relatively low percentage of airlines achieve such high scores. LOT fully met the requirements of the IOSA standard, including the complete implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS). LOT is the first air carrier in Poland with such a system. The Safety Management System is defined as a systematic approach to safety management, including necessary organizational structures, the scope of responsibility, rules and procedures.

The IOSA safety audit was performed for as many as 384 airlines in the world. IOSA standards are based on international aviation regulations and requirements.

We are proud to have achieved the highest possible result on a safety audit conducted by the IATA, whose members currently include 240 airlines. This is yet another piece of evidence that LOT is one of the safest airlines in the world – says Marcin Piróg, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines. We will still strive to improve our standards, procedures and LOT’s Cabin Crew qualifications – adds Marcin Piróg.

The achievement of such a good result on the IOSA audit is another stage of the implementation of the LOT strategy introduced in 2011 together with the “Must Win Battle” document. One of the company’s commitments involved the achievement of this result: “IOSA – no findings”.
