Lonely Planet Reveals Its Best for 2013

Asia-Pacific, 2012-10-24 — /travelprnews.com/ — Lonely Planet has named Hobart and Christchurch as two of the world’s top cities for next year in LONELY PLANET’S BEST IN TRAVEL 2013, published today.

This is Lonely Planet’s eighth eagerly-awaited annual collection of the best places to go and things to do around the world for the year ahead.

Ranked seventh on the book’s list of Top 10 Cities 2013, Hobart is “a historic city reinventing itself,” according to Lonely Planet. “Now is the time to discover what’s going on down there before the rest of the world catches on.”

Christchurch is in sixth position on the same list. “New Zealand’s second-largest city is rising from the rubble created by devastating earthquakes with a breathtaking mix of spirit, determination and flair,” Lonely Planet says. “2013 will be an intriguing year to join the rebirth of this proud southern city.”

Other cities to make Lonely Planet’s list for 2013 are San Francisco (1), Amsterdam (2), Hyderabad (3), Derry/Londonderry (4), Beijing (5), Montreal (8), Addis Ababa (9) and Puerto Iguazú (10).

This new edition of BEST IN TRAVEL also features Lonely Planet’s Top 10 Countries 2013: Sri Lanka (1), Montenegro (2), South Korea (3), Ecuador (4), Slovakia (5), Solomon Islands (6), Iceland (7), Turkey (8), Dominican Republic (9) and Madagascar (10); along with its Top 10 Regions for next year: Corsica (1), The Negev (2); Mustang (3), The Yukon (4), Chachapoyas & Kuélap (5), The US Gulf Coast (6), Carinthia (7), Palawan (8), Japan’s Inland Sea (9) and Campania (10).
