London City Airport In The Worlds Top Ten Landings

2013-01-29 — /travelprnews.com/ — London City Airport has been voted one of the world’s ten most scenic airport landings in a poll conducted by PrivateFly.com.

The company asked travel experts and fans across the world to vote for the most scenic airport landings in its annual survey.

This year the private jet booking service teamed up with a number of major names in the travel industry to form the shortlist and four of the twelve judges selected London City: Tatler travel editor Francisca Kellett; Murdo Morrison, editor of Flight International; Sarah Miller, former launch editor of Conde Nast Traveller UK; and John Bevan, General Manager of SpaFinder Europe. Each judge chose their top three landings, which then formed the shortlist for the public vote.

Matthew Hall, Chief Commercial Officer at London City Airport said:  “Thank you to everyone who voted for LCY and helped us to make the top ten.  As the only airport actually in London, we are unique in that aircraft descend right in front of Canary Wharf and on approach passengers are left in no doubt about how close they are to England’s capital city and its many iconic landmarks. It’s great to know that our passengers enjoy the view as much as we do.”

Murdo Morrison said of the landing at London City Airport: “The approach, with views of Canary Wharf and into the heart of London’s financial hub, really makes you feel like a master of the universe.”

Adam Twidell, CEO of PrivateFly.com and another member of the judging panel, added: “The top ten is an annual bucket list for air travel fans, giving a fascinating mix of global descents; from major city views such as London City and Los Angeles, to tiny remote airstrips such as Phinda in South Africa, where aircraft land in the middle of a game reserve”.
