Kansas City International Airport served 827,733 passengers in January, a 2.0 percent increase from January 2018

Kansas City, MO, 2019-Feb-20 — /Travel PR News/ — The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that 827,733 passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport’s gates in January, a 2.0 percent increase from January 2018. Passenger boardings were up 2.0 percent, with a total of 413,777 boarded. For the year to date, total passengers in and out total 827,733, up 2.0 percent. Year-to-date passenger boardings are 413,777, up 2.0 percent.

“After a record-setting December and the second-busiest year in Kansas City International Airport’s history, 2019 began with the airport’s second busiest January ever,” said Pat Klein, Kansas City director of aviation. “This is a strong start to what could be a record-breaking year.”

Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI were up 2.7 percent in January with a total of 17.2 million pounds handled. Year to date, 17.2 million pounds have been handled, up 2.7 percent. Air freight handled at KCI during January amounted to 16.6 million pounds, which is up 3.3 percent year-over-year. Year to date, air freight is up 3.3 percent with a total of 16.6 million pounds handled. Air mail for January was down 9.8 percent from January 2018 with 657,247 pounds handled. Air mail is down 9.8 percent year to date with 657,247 pounds handled.

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for January 2019 was 162. Service was offered to 48 nonstop markets. There was an average of 38,018 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day. The all-cargo carriers reported six daily departures for January.
