Hristo Shterionov appointed Sofia Airport Executive Director

2013-07-01 — /travelprnews.com/ — Hristo Shterionov is the new Executive Director of “Sofia Airport” EAD. On 26 June 2013 (Wednesday), he was appointed by Danaill Papazov, the Minister of Transport, at the position occupied by Veselin Peikov until then.

Hristo Shterionov was born on 7 July 1963.

In 1986, he completed a full higher education course at Higher Military Air Force School “G. Benkovski “in Dolna Mitropoliya, specializing in Aircraft Maintenance and Exploitation Engineering – Aircraft and Engines.

He worked at the airports of Bezmer, Krumovo, and Bozhurishte, occupying consecutively the positions of a senior technician in an aviation squadron, senior technician in an Emergency Rescue Unit at a Technical-Operational Section, a flight engineer at Mi 8 helicopter, Deputy Head for technical issues.

In 1991 he successfully completed a brevetting course and received an aircrew brevet (certificate) foraircraft types AN 2, PZL-102, PZL-104.

Hristo Shterionov began to work at Sofia Airport on 16.11.1992 as a Commander of Emergency Rescue Team. During his 21-year experience at Sofia Airport he occupied the following positions:

From 1 October1996 he was a Head of “Flight Safety, Emergency Rescue Activities, Traffic safety and Fire Protection” unit.

From 1 October 1997 he was a Deputy Head of “Emergency Rescue Activities and Flight Safety” unit.

From 1 November 1999 he became Deputy Director regarding operational safety and emergency rescue activities.

From 25 August 2008 he became Deputy Director of a department and Sofia Airport Safety Manager.

As of От 1 December 2008 he became a Director of “Airport Operation” department.

Hristo Shterionov is a family man. He is fluent in written and spoken English.
