Helsinki, Finland, 2014-6-10 — /Travel PR News/ — Helsinki Airport might soon add yoga, Pilates and meditation to its selection of services. In the newly opened “Kainuu” space you can salute the sun and bust out a few stretches while watching planes land and take off on the runways.
As a part of its TravelLab project, which brings prototypes of possible new services for the passengers to test, Helsinki Airport is giving pop up yoga and Pilates classes a try. The serene Kainuu space is open 24 hours a day, so passengers can pop in to stretch their achy limbs at any time.
Yoga mats, as well as instructions for various exercises are provided in the space.
Located near gate 30, “Kainuu” is an airy space for exercise and relaxation, which makes use of elements from Finnish nature. The soft, dark green carpets create an effect of a mossy forest floor, perfect for rolling out a matching yoga mat. The décor in this relaxing features wooden plank and smooth natural stone floors as well as quirky lounge seats covered with traditional woven rugs.
Hanna Ruax and Meri Mart from yoga studio Pihasali in Helsinki demonstrated a 15-minute “Jet Lag Yoga” class for a group of journalists and passengers as the “Yoga Gate” was launched on 23 May.
“Yoga Gate” will run until early June. Passengers will be able to take part in instructed classes in addition to doing exercises at their own pace, with the help of pre-created workout detailed in posters available in the space.
Instructed classes are available as follows:
