Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts expands 100 Mile Cocktail program worldwide, adding new locally sourced cocktails to drink menus across six continents

2013-05-15 — /travelprnews.com/ — This year Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts expands its 100 Mile Cocktail program worldwide, adding new locally sourced cocktails to drink menus across six continents. Following a successful run in the Americas last summer, this year’s 100 Mile Cocktail initiative once again challenged mixologists to craft libations using only ingredients and spirits found within a 100-mile (160-kilometre) radius of each Four Seasons property.

The program takes Four Seasons commitment to farm-to-table beyond the plate and into the glass, bringing awareness to the community farms, distilleries and producers that supply each cocktail’s distinctive ingredients. Examples include:

  • At Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire, gin gets a hint of aromatic sweetness from estate-harvested honeycomb and hand-picked elderflowers.
  • Mixologists at Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru fashion a kicky non-alcoholic 0 Mile Cocktail from guava, fresh coconut water and ginger found right on the premises.
  • Pumpkin takes centre stage at Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti, where bartenders are shaking up a heady concoction of konyagi, a sugarcane spirit indigenous to the region, with pumpkin purée sourced from the community-based Ikoma Cooperative Farms.
  • Four Seasons Hotel Houston is pouring a 100-Mile Dash cocktail that combines small-batch DASH Vodka with a splash of Texas grapefruit juice and muddled rosemary.

As a further testament to Four Seasons dedication to local causes, several of its properties will donate a portion of 100 Mile Cocktail proceeds to charities that benefit their surrounding community. Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village near Los Angeles and Four Seasons Resort Jackson Hole have already pledged a portion of proceeds to area chapters of Relay for Life.

“Four Seasons is privileged to have access to top-quality local ingredients, many of which grow literally outside our doors,” says Vice President of Food and Beverage for the Americas Guy Rigby. “Through the 100 Mile Cocktail program, our mixologists are not just delivering an inventive cocktail experience for our guests; they’re also engaging and supporting their communities. For us, it’s a clear win-win.”

100 Mile Cocktails are available to guests and local patrons at select Four Seasons properties worldwide in the weeks to come. For 100 Mile Cocktail recipes and more from Four Seasons chefs and mixologists around the world, visit Taste by Four Seasons.
