Four Seasons Hotel Seattle and Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Fund Aim to Raise USD One Million at Fourth Annual Run of Hope Seattle

5K Run/3K Walk to be held on September 30 at Seward Park benefits groundbreaking research for children with brain tumours and brain cancer.

Seattle, U.S.A. 2012-09-14 — /travelprnews.com/ — Run of Hope Seattle, an annual 5K run and 3K walk to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Fund (PBTRF), will hold its fourth annual Run of Hope on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Seward Park. More than USD 700,000.00 has been raised in the first three years and the fundraising goal for 2012 is to reach USD 1 million. Teams and individuals can register and make donations for the timed run/walk online by September 26, 2012.

PBTRF and Four Seasons Hotel Seattle created the Run of Hope Seattle in 2009, adding to the many global efforts made byFour Seasons to eradicate cancer worldwide. All of the proceeds from the Run of Hope are used to fund groundbreaking research for children with brain tumours and brain cancer at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

“The Run of Hope Steering Committee has worked hard to connect with local businesses to acquire Corporate Sponsorships that cover all race expenses, allowing 100 percent of registration fees and donations to go directly to pediatric brain tumor research at Seattle Children’s Hospital,” says Michael Hirschler, co-chair of the Run of Hope and human resources director at Four Seasons Hotel Seattle.

“In its fourth year, the Run of Hope Seattle remains close to our hearts, becoming a shared effort each employee of Four SeasonsHotel Seattle is very passionate about,” explains Michael. “Coming from all walks of life, everyone from room attendants to senior leadership donated more than USD 3,000.00 from their own paychecks. They continue to collect money from each other through bake sales, a kickball tournament, and even selling valet parking to fellow employees. Year to date, they have raised USD 5,000.00 for the Run of Hope and for that, we are extremely grateful.”

Funds raised have already contributed to important research such as tumour paint, clinical trials, discovery of new cancer markers and other groundbreaking research by Dr. Jim Olson, who collaborates with other researchers from Seattle Children’s Hospital.

“In 2012 we aim to ‘Make it to a Million’ as to keep the vital research going. Brain cancer has the highest mortality rate of all childhood cancers and we endeavor to put a stop to that. By raising USD 240,000.00 this year, we can make it to our goal and be well on our way to improving the survival rates for children in desperate need,” says Erin Cordry, Run of Hope co-chair and president of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Fund. “We’ve come a long way and every year I’m amazed to see the collaborative effort from families and friends, survivors and the Seattle community as they continue to help make an impact in the lives of children with brain tumours.”

The races, family-friendly activities, food, music and amazing prizes will begin at 9:00 am and end at noon. Deadlines: online registration, Wednesday, September 26, 2012; Run of Hope Angel submission: Wednesday, September 12, 2012; day of race registration: Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 9:15 am.
