Flight safety briefing for pilots attending this year’s AeroExpo event at Sywell Aerodrome

2013-04-25— /travelprnews.com/ — Pilots attending this year’s AeroExpo event at Sywell Aerodrome can receive a personal safety briefing on the Airspace & Safety Initiative (ASI) stand. Safety experts will be on hand to guide private pilots through a virtual flight, highlighting potential risks and advising on good practice to help avoid, in particular, infringements of controlled airspace.

Anyone taking part in a briefing will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win an Aware GPS device or one of several annual subscriptions to SkyDemon’s comprehensive pre-flight planning tool.

ASI – a joint initiative between the Civil Aviation Authority, NATS, and the Ministry of Defence, to improve airspace safety – will be occupying stand C13 at AeroExpo, the UK’s largest general aviation event, from 31 May – 2 June 2013. Attendees, whether arriving by air or land, will receive more details on the ASI’s weekend activities and prize draw on arrival, as part of their greeting pack.

ASI will be running similar safety initiatives at other GA events during the remainder of 2013 as part of its campaign to reduce the number of infringements occurring in UK airspace, currently averaging 800 per year.

For further information please contact Jonathan Nicholson or Richard Taylor in the CAA’s Corporate Communications Department on 020 7453 6027 or at press.office@caa.co.uk
