Enterprise Holdings’ careers and recruitment website to feature information about the company’s military heritage and ongoing military support

Online Resource Highlights Career Opportunities, Employee Profiles

ST. LOUIS, 2014-03-31 — /Travel PR News/ — Enterprise Holdings’ careers and recruitment website has been updated to feature information about the company’s military heritage and ongoing military support. The website includes employment opportunities for transitioning military personnel, veterans, members of the National Guard and Reserve and military families.

Last year alone, nearly 2,000 military veterans and reservists launched new careers with Enterprise Holdings, the largest car rental company in the world, which owns and operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands.

The content for this unique website came from current veteran and reservist employees, who make up more than 10 percent of the company’s U.S. workforce. One such employee is Area Rental Manager Cleveland Love Jr. – a former U.S. Army squad leader responsible for taking troops into combat in both Iraq and Afghanistan – who now spends his time overseeing eight home-city Enterprise locations and one airport branch.

Cleveland credits much of his current success to a quality he cultivated in the military: his ability to adapt to change. “We needed to make decisions on the fly in a lot of combat situations,” said Cleveland. “I have to do the same here at Enterprise every single day. Quick problem-solving and decision-making are vital.”

“We have always had a substantial number of employees with military backgrounds,” said Pam Webster, assistant vice president of Talent Acquisition at Enterprise Holdings. “We also have highlighted our military roots on our Enterprise Holdings corporate website and our Enterprise Rent-A-Car reservation site for years. But we didn’t have a dedicated recruiting resource that spoke directly to our employees’ experiences and skill sets – so we looked for a way to connect our own military story with theirs.”

As a result, Enterprise Holdings not only established a robust military-focused careers and recruitment site, but also an online internal resource group for employees with military experience, where they are able to come together, share experiences and network across the company. The site also highlights the extraordinary stories of several Enterprise Holdings employees with military experience.

Enterprise’s commitment to the military goes back nearly six decades. The company is named after the USS Enterprise, one of the aircraft carriers company founder Jack Taylor served on as a U.S. Navy pilot during World War II. It is widely recognized as the most decorated warship in U.S. military history. In fact, in 2008 Enterprise partnered with The History Channel® on the first season of Battle 360, which used the latest technology and animation to put viewers right in the middle of the action on the USS Enterprise.

When Taylor founded Enterprise, he borrowed heavily from the values he learned in the Navy. Today, it’s those same values and deep military heritage that attract other former members of the military to the company. “Our military-hiring initiative really started in 1957 when Jack founded the company. This makes our story both authentic and compelling,” said Webster.

Enterprise Holdings’ support of the military focuses on three key areas – recruitment and hiring, local operations and community relations. Enterprise pays the salary differential for employees on active duty, so they continue to receive full pay throughout the duration of their service. In addition, Enterprise Holdings operates rental facilities on more than 60 U.S. military bases.

Enterprise Holdings’ military recruitment efforts are supported through its membership in the 100,000 Jobs Mission and White House Joining Forces Travel Industry Coalition. U.S. Veterans Magazine recently named Enterprise Holdings a “Top Veteran-Friendly Company” in recognition of its continued commitment to hiring men and women who have served in America’s armed forces. The company was also designated a “2013 Military Friendly Employer®” by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs.
