(PRESS RELEASE) DUBAI, UAE, 2025-Jun-5 — /Travel PR News/ — Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has significantly strengthened its East Asia presence with the launch of two new routes connecting Bangkok to Da Nang, Vietnam, and Siem Reap, Cambodia. These new services are part of Emirates’ broader strategy to enhance connectivity in Southeast Asia, a region experiencing rapid growth in travel and trade.
The inaugural flights to Da Nang on 2 June and Siem Reap on 3 June were marked by traditional water cannon salutes and warm welcomes from local government officials and airport authorities. Emirates leadership teams were present at both events to inaugurate the new services.

The welcome delegation included His Excellency Dr. MAO Havanall, Minister in Charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, along with other high-ranking Cambodian officials; Excellency Mohammed Nossry Katoeu, Secretary of State of Ministry of Tourism; Excellency SO Sreymech, Secretary of State of Ministry of Commerce; Excellency NGOUV Sengkak, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap; Mr. Jaber AlShehhi, Head of Economic Affairs, Embassy of United Arab Emirates for the Kingdom of Thailand and the Kingdom of Cambodia; and Neak Oknha Sear Rithy, Chairman of WorldBridge International Group. Leading the Emirates delegation were Nabil Sultan, Executive Vice President, Passenger Sales and Country Management; Orhan Abbas, Senior Vice President for Commercial Operations in the Far East; Abdulla Alkhallafi, Vice President, Cargo Commercial, Far East and Australasia; and Mohammed Al Qassim, Emirates’ Country Manager for Cambodia.
Strengthening Connectivity Across Southeast Asia
The new routes are operated by Emirates’ Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, renowned for their spacious cabins and award-winning service. Both routes offer seamless connections to Dubai and beyond, allowing passengers to enjoy convenient travel across three key destinations—Dubai, Bangkok, and either Da Nang or Siem Reap—with a single ticket.
Nabil Sultan, Emirates’ Executive Vice President of Passenger Sales and Country Management, expressed, “The launch of these two routes via Bangkok marks a significant step in strengthening Emirates’ position in Southeast Asia. It reinforces our long-standing commitment to Thailand as a vital gateway to the region. These new services open up exciting opportunities for business and leisure travelers, and we’re grateful to our partners and the local authorities for their continued support.”
Boosting Trade and Tourism
Da Nang, now Emirates’ third gateway in Vietnam alongside Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, will play a key role in expanding the airline’s network in Southeast Asia. The new route will also facilitate the transportation of high-value cargo such as electronics, textiles, and perishables. Emirates’ strong partnerships with Vietnam Airlines, VietJet, and Sun Group further bolster the airline’s presence in the region.
The new Dubai-Bangkok-Siem Reap route, which operates three times weekly, complements Emirates’ daily service to Phnom Penh via Singapore, and expands the airline’s presence in Cambodia to 10 weekly flights. These new routes are perfectly timed to cater to leisure travelers from key European markets, as well as supporting the growing demand for cultural and business exchanges under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPA) between the UAE and both Cambodia and Vietnam.
Commemorating the Launch
To mark the launch of these new routes, Emirates hosted a cake-cutting ceremony at its newly renovated lounge at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport’s SAT-1 terminal. The lounge, the airline’s largest outside of Dubai, served as the perfect backdrop to celebrate Bangkok’s pivotal role in the airline’s expanding regional network. The event was attended by Emirates’ senior leadership, dignitaries, and airport officials.
Emirates’ commitment to the Southeast Asia region is growing, with strengthened bilateral relations and increased demand for both leisure and business travel. The airline’s partnerships with governments, tourism boards, and airports across the region continue to fuel its expansion efforts.
