easyJet to fly from Newquay for the first time

2012-12-18 — /travelprnews.com/ — easyjet, the South West’s largest airline, has announced that it will operate flights from Newquay Cornwall Airport for the first time in its history.

The airline will operate six services per week to Liverpool and London Southend from Summer 2013 with tickets now on sale. easyJet expects to attract over 20,000 passengers on services to and from Cornwall – with fares starting from £27.49.

About the new services:

London Southend – will operate three times per week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and the inaugural flight will take place on 20 June 2013

Liverpool – will operate three times per week on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and the inaugural flight will take place on 4th July 2013

Ali Gayward, easyJet Comercial Manager, commented: “We’re thrilled to add Newquay Cornwall Airport to our network for the first time and believe it will be a popular choice for business travellers and UK holidaymakers looking for an idyllic ‘staycation’. The routes will launch from summer 2013 and fares start from as little as £27.49 making it easy and affordable to reach Cornwall.”

Al Titterington, Managing Director of Newquay Cornwall Airport said: “This is fantastic news for the Airport to attract an airline of easyJet stature and their commitment to the South West and we are looking forward to working with them to develop services to and from Cornwall. The North West and London are key markets and the addition of Liverpool and London Southend wil compliment our route network.”

Last month easyJet launched allocated seating across its network. All passengers are now provided with a seat number free when they check in. Customers who wish to select a specific seat can do so for a fee of £3, £8 or £12 depending on their seat preference.

easyJet has trialled allocated seating since April with nearly 2 million passengers flying on 12,500 allocated seating flights. Research among these passengers has shown that 71% think allocated seating is better due to the improved boarding experience, while over 60% said that they are more likely to fly with easyJet in the future as a result.
