Daimler Buses UK Focuses on eMobility and Workforce Expansion in Coventry

London, UK, 2023-Oct-15 — /Travel PR News/ — Daimler Buses UK Ltd shapes its future in eMobility and the workforce which make it. With funding from parent company Daimler Truck AG, Daimler Buses UK Ltd is well underway investing its electromobility infrastructure at its Coventry-based premises as well as increasing the number of employment opportunities for the new generation.

Investing in people.  Investing in Coventry.

2023 represents a record year for apprenticeship recruitment with the creation of its eighth new position – accounting for around 10% of the business’ headcount.  Starting at a level three qualification, with some offering progression to level four, each apprenticeship presents a valuable learning opportunity for knowledge-sharing and professional experience – backed by academic and well-being support from a range of external specialist training providers and the Mercedes-Benz Apprentice Academy.

The apprenticeship positions cater to a broad range of skillsets and support the shift towards zero-emission transport solutions with administrative, technical and practical work across a variety of departments including Human Resources, Sales Support, Finance and Workshop.

Another strategic decision for the business, last year saw the completion of a state-of-the-art eMobility Centre.  Showcasing the latest in on-site battery repair and maintenance solutions for its electric bus offering, the
Mercedes-Benz eCitaro, the Centre, installed at the Daimler Buses UK Ltd Coventry premises presents new learning and skill-sharing opportunities for its employees, apprentices, service partners and customers – the eMobility Centre plays host to practical and theoretical training as well as exclusive customer presentation events.

Jens Heinemann, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at Daimler Buses UK Ltd comments “tbc”.

First two orders secured for Mercedes-Benz eCitaro.

Daimler Buses UK Ltd announces the delivery of Mercedes-Benz eCitaro all-electric buses starting Spring 2024.  Longstanding Mercedes-Benz customer, Bristol Airport confirms an order for two eCitaro buses for use on airport transfers as part of the site-wide plan to reduce its carbon footprint.

Going all-electric for its bus fleet in Harrogate, Transdev Blazefield, under its The Harrogate Bus Company brand, place an order for twenty Mercedes-Benz eCitaro buses utilising the government-backed scheme ‘ZEBRA’ – Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas funding.

Both orders follow extensive trials of a Mercedes-Benz eCitaro demonstration vehicle with the bus returning once more to Transdev Blazefield for further analysis on additional routes in the Yorkshire region.
