Guests choose from a variety of delectable ice cream flavors, cookie recipes and dipping sauces to create an entirely customized treat.
“There’s nothing more satisfying than ice cream on a warm summer day, especially here in Los Angeles,” explains Executive Chef Alexander La Motte, who worked with Pastry Chef David Couch to come up with an inventive yet nostalgic dessert. “We wanted to feature our house-made ice creams in a way that it could be enjoyed in any of our restaurants or in The Bar, and serving it as a cookie sandwich seemed like the perfect way to do that.”
The sandwich is a reflection of The Bar’s new signature menu, which includes hearty gastropub-style sandwiches, burgers and other comfort fare. Additionally, all of the sauces, cookies and ice creams are house-made and feature locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients, including Oxnard-grown strawberries and freshly-picked mint from the Hotel gardens.
Five different cookie selections (from traditional chocolate chip to savoury house-smoked bacon), ice cream flavours (including Garden Mint and Salted Caramel, a local favourite) and dipping sauces offer guests countless possibilities to build a unique ice cream sandwich. One of the popular combinations is the Bacon Cookie & Salted Caramel sandwich, designed by Pastry Chef David as the ultimate blend of savoury, salty and sweet flavours.
The Ice Cream Sandwich Menu in Westlake Village is available all summer long in The Bar, Lobby Lounge and The Lookout. While available locally, the promotion ties into the Summer of Ice Cream Love campaign in which Four Seasons properties around the world were challenged to create an innovative and interactive ice cream dish for their property. In Westlake Village, guests are invited to celebrate National Ice Cream Day on July 21, 2013 with a special Ice Cream Social Event planned in The Bar and outdoor lounge.
