Chocolate Treats Are Extra Sweet at Halloween In Hershey

Hershey, Pa., 2012-09-28 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Halloween season transforms the town of Hershey into an extra sweet destination. Featuring family-friendly events and activities, Halloween In Hershey provides guests with three weekends of spooktacular thrills. The celebration takes place on October 19-21, October 26-28 and November 2-4, and includes:

Hersheypark in the Dark
Featuring more than 50 rides and attractions including the Park’s 12th roller coaster, Skyrush or “Scare Rush,” Hersheypark in the Dark transforms all ride names to reflect the Halloween season. Popular examples include “FEARenheit” (Farhenheit) and “Bats in the Belfry” (Kissing Tower). Children 12 and younger are encouraged to dress in costume to experience Hershey’s Trick-or-Treat Adventure, which is sure to satisfy every kid’s sweet tooth. The adventure begins at Hershey’s Chocolate World Attraction and continues to “Treatville,” a town inside Hersheypark where Hershey’s candy treats are offered at eight locations. Hersheypark in the Dark also features fall-themed cuisine and live entertainment including a group of crazy singing scientists in “Bunsen and the Burners;” a rockin’ band of misfit mummies in “Screaming Mummies;” and juggling jesters in “The Ghoul Getters.” Event hours are Fridays from 5 to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 2 to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 2 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $31.95 for regular admission (ages 9 to 54), and $21.95 for junior (ages 3 to 8) or senior (ages 55 and older) admission. Children ages 2 and younger are free.

Creatures of the Night at ZooAmerica
Bring a flashlight to experience Creatures of the Night at ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park, which gives visitors the unique opportunity to see the nocturnal habits of more than 200 animals. Included in the one-price admission to Hersheypark in the Dark, the 11-acre Zoo features pumpkin treats for select animals, the opportunity to touch a reptile and more. Guests also can visit the Zoo’s ghostly gator of the swamps, an albino alligator. The white gator will be on exhibit until December 31, 2012. Separate admission is available at the Zoo’s off-street entrance.

Hershey’s Chocolate World
Hershey’s Chocolate World Attraction offers fun for the whole family each weekend during Halloween in Hershey. Enjoy the Hershey’s S’mores Campfire Party and experience traditional s’mores along with songs and stories; participate in Hershey’s Create Your Own Candy Bar attraction and Hershey’s Dessert Creation Studio that offer Halloween-themed ingredients and toppings for visitors to customize their treats; and hop on a trolley for an evening tour of Hershey that includes a journey to see the lights ofHersheypark in the Dark through Hershey Trolley Works. The trolley, which departs from Hershey’s Chocolate World Attraction, promises an entertaining experience and Halloween treats.

The Hershey Story Museum
Visitors can get their chocolate fix at The Hershey Story, The Museum on Chocolate Avenue, where families can take a hands-on Chocolate Lab class to learn about the unique qualities of chocolate. Seasonal classes include “Chocolate Cobweb Creations” and “Build a Batty Bar,” which are offered daily from October 19 through October 31. New this season, guests can pre-purchase Chocolate Lab tickets up to a week in advance by calling 717-534-8939.

Kids also can visit Black Cat Alley on the lower level of the museum to make a light-up pin using vintage Hershey’s advertising images. Black Cat Alley activities are on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on October 20, 21, 27 and 28.

Hershey Gardens
Hershey Gardens lights up the night with more than 150 uniquely carved illuminated pumpkins during its annual Pumpkin Glow. Kids ages 12 and younger are invited to come in costume, listen to a garden-themed story time and collect candy treats at stops along the Gardens’ paths. Visitors also can learn about the importance of “being green” by walking through the Recycling Graveyard. Pumpkin Glow is on Fridays and Saturdays from 6 to 8 p.m. on October 19, 20, 26 and 27.

The Spa At The Hotel Hershey
Beginning October 1, guests who seek a seasonal treat for the mind, body and soul can relax at The Spa At The Hotel Hershey, which offers fall-themed treatments that include a 30-Minute “Pumpkin Spice Scrub,” a 50-Minute “Pumpkin Soufflé Wrap” and a 50-Minute “The Great Pumpkin Facial.” Available Mondays through Thursdays only, the costs of the treatments are $65* for the scrub, $125* for the wrap and $125* for the facial. Combination pumpkin treatment packages also are available.

New apple spice treatments also are available Mondays through Thursdays beginning October 1. Enjoy the scents of apples, brown sugar, cinnamon and cloves while indulging in a “Spiced Apple Hands & Feet” treatment and a “Spiced Apple Package.” The cost of the hands and feet treatment is $130* and includes a mug of hot apple cider. The “Spiced Apple Package” includes a soak, body scrub, manicure, pedicure, mug of hot apple cider and lunch in The Oasis, the Spa’s guest only dining room. The package costs $235**.

All fall seasonal treatments are available October 1 through November 29 on Mondays through Thursdays only.

Dining in Hershey
Hershey Lodge offers a Witches Brewed Children’s Tea on Saturdays at 12:30 and 5:30 p.m. during Halloween In Hershey. Children can come in costume to sample hot chocolate, orange and white chocolate teas and a variety of finger foods. The tea also includes pumpkin decorating, Halloween-themed storytelling and a kid-size apron. The cost is $40 for an adult and child, and $18 for each additional person.

Hershey Resorts
As the official resorts of Hersheypark, The Hotel Hershey, Hershey Lodge and Hershey Highmeadow Campground offer overnight accommodations and exclusive benefits so families can extend their Halloween In Hershey fun. Advantages to staying at one of the three resort properties include discounted admission to Hersheypark in the Dark and complimentary shuttle service.

The Hotel Hershey and Hershey Lodge also offer a Halloween In Hershey Package, including deluxe accommodations, breakfast with the Hershey’s Product Characters, one-day admission to Hersheyparkin the Dark and admission to Hershey Gardens and The Hershey Story’s Museum Experience.
