2012-09-19 — /travelprnews.com/ — China Airlines received the “Sports Activists Award” from the Sports Affairs Council on September 7 for its contribution to the development of sports in Taiwan. As a first-time nominee, China Airlines was recognized by the judging panel for its long-term sponsorship of golf in Taiwan.

Sports Affairs Council of the Executive Yuan of Taiwan established the “Sports Activists Award” in 2009 to honor corporations, associations, and individuals that have made significant contributions to the development of sports in Taiwan. The “Sports Activists Award” is divided into sponsorship, promotion, and special categories. The awards of each category are classified as gold, silver, bronze, or long-term sponsorship awards based on sponsorship amounts and years of promotion. The judging panel includes representatives from the media and sports associations, as well as sports-related experts and academics. The Golf Association of the Republic of China nominated China Airlines for the “Sports Activists Award” in the sponsorship category, and China Airlines received a long-term sponsorship award for its sponsorship of golf in Taiwan since 2002. In addition to sponsoring the Junior Golf Training Program, China Airlines also sponsored the 2011 Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship and helped many Taiwanese golfers reach international heights.

China Airlines has a long history of supporting sporting events around the world and raising the international visibility of Taiwan’s star athletes, known as the “pride of Taiwan.” China Airlines was the official airline of the 2009 Deaflympics in Taipei and the 2009 World Games in Kaohsiung. Following China Airlines’ sponsorship of the OEC Taipei Ladies Open in 2011 and 2012 and the World Children’s Baseball Fair in 2011, China Airlines will continue to support sporting events and Taiwanese athletes on the world stage.
