(PRESS RELEASE) Singapore, 2024-Feb-23 — /Travel PR News/ — Changi Airports International (CAI), a global airport consultant, manager and investor, and Sociedade Gestora de Aeroportos (SGA), an airport management company under the Republic of Angola’s Ministry of Transport, signed a 2-year technical partnership agreement on 18 February 2024. The partnership will see both sides working on a long-term strategy to maximise the traffic potential and profitability of 16 regional airports managed by SGA[1].

As a leading airport consultant, CAI will lend its traffic development expertise to SGA to help grow air traffic at the Angolan airports. Plans include targeted airline engagement programmes to increase domestic and regional air connectivity, as well as marketing campaigns to attract passenger traffic.

At the same time, CAI will improve the airports’ non-aeronautical offerings and operational performance, including customer service, to enhance the overall airport experience. A review of existing airport facilities and maintenance regime is also in the works.

To improve SGA’s financial performance, CAI will work with SGA to launch a new corporate strategy. This includes delivering a long-term human capital development and training strategy to help achieve better manpower productivity at SGA and its airports.

Eugene Gan, Chief Executive Officer of CAI, said, “We thank Sociedade Gestora de Aeroportos for this invaluable partnership to strengthen the performance of their company and their airports. Angola is the seventh largest country by area and twelfth most populated in Africa. There is enormous economic and tourism potential waiting to be explored, and improvements to air connectivity and airport offerings could help realise these possibilities. We look forward to working together to uplift the airports’ standards to facilitate greater and smoother movement of goods and people domestically and in the region.”

Mr Manuel Gomes, Chief Executive Officer of SGA, said, “This partnership marks the beginning of an exciting and collaborative journey between Changi Airports International and Sociedade Gestora de Aeroportos. We are joining forces to raise the standards of excellence in airport operations and deliver exceptional travel experiences. We firmly believe that collaboration is the key to driving innovation and promoting progress. By sharing knowledge, expertise and resources, we are certainly building a future where airports will be more efficient, safe and sustainable.”

The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the Changi Aviation Summit and Singapore Airshow 2024. It was witnessed by Mr Rui Carreira, Angola’s Secretary of State for Civil Aviation, Maritime and Ports, and Mr Lee Seow Hiang, Chief Executive Officer of Changi Airport Group.
