Budapest to Basel four times a week with easyJet

2012-11-16 — /travelprnews.com/ — easyJet is launching four flights a week between Budapest and Basel. This is the second flight to Switzerland offered to and from the Hungarian capital by the British carrier, as its aircraft commute nine (!) times a week to and from Geneva as well during the winter schedule period.

Businesspeople, tourists and winter sports enthusiasts could all benefit from the new easyJet flight to Basel. The historic settlement, located near the border between Switzerland, France and Germany, is the third largest city in Switzerland, and an important center for industry, pharmaceutical research and culture. The recognizable white-and-orange-colored easyJet Airbus A 319 aircraft will fly between Basel and Budapest four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with a maximum of 156 passengers on board. The needs of both business travelers and of tourists flying for long weekends or short city breaks were taken into account when determining the schedule.

“We are committed to offering destinations for all types of travelers from the Hungarian capital,” emphasized Peter Voets, marketing manager Switzerland, Austria, Turkey & Eastern Europe for easyJet. “We plan to serve approximately 50 000 passengers annually on the new Budapest-Basel route.”

“We are happy to see that easyJet has added Basel, an important Swiss destination, to its services offered from Budapest,” said Kam Jandu, aviation director for Budapest Airport, about the launch of the new flight. “I am certain that the easyJet’s new Basel flights will quickly prove popular, both with business travelers and tourists. easyJet now offers six destinations from Budapest during the winter schedule, which in itself is evidence of the carrier’s commitment to Budapest Airport and the Hungarian market.”

Since the onset of the winter schedule on 28 October, easyJet has increased the frequency on its Geneva route to nine a week (in view of the increased interest in French ski resorts), and operates to Basel four times a week. An added advantage of the Swiss city is that its airport also offers comfortable access for passengers traveling to Baden-Württemberg in Germany or Alsace in France. easyJet currently offers 6 flights to 5 cities in 4 countries from Budapest (London Gatwick and Luton, Berlin, Paris, Geneva and Basel).
