Brussels Airport Company Chief Executive Officer Arnaud Feist was proclaimed “Man of the year” at the Travel Magazine Gala Awards Evening for travel industry professionals. Under Feist’s management, Brussels Airport has waxed into a dynamic airport, that is representative of the capital of Europe, and appealing to business travellers as well as holidaymakers who are setting off into the world from Brussels Airport.
BRUSSELS, Belgium, 2015-11-16 — /Travel PR News/ — Travel Magazine, the leading magazine for travel and aviation news in Belgium has been staging its annual TM Travel Awards since 1998. At the 18th edition, Brussels Airport Company CEO Arnaud Feist was voted “Man of the year”.
“I’m surprised but above all I feel very honoured to be getting this Award. I would like to thank everybody at Brussels Airport Company, but equally all 20,000 other airport staff for their day-to-day commitment to make Brussels Airport into a premier airport that is a wonderful place for work and travel”, Brussels Airport Company CEO Arnaud Feist said as he received his Award.
The “Man of the year” award is recognition for the many accomplishments in recent years, and in 2014 and 2015 in particular. In 2014, Brussels Airport posted a record growth of close to 15% up to just under 22 million passengers. For 2015 too, the airport is continuing to see rising passenger numbers, recording a further 6 to 7% increase.
This year saw Connector, the new connecting building between the terminal and Pier A, open its doors in the presence of His Majesty King Filip. This new Brussels Airport ‘landmark’ is home to the largest ‘remote screening’ security platform in Europe. It is also where passengers get to enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of the tarmac and discover the brand new shops, bars and restaurants as they wait to board their flight.
Since Arnaud Feist took up his position as CEO in 2010, 12 new airlines – including Air Canada, Qatar Airways, Thai, Emirates and ANA – started operating out of Brussels Airport. In addition, a further 38 new destinations have been added to the network.
At Arnaud Feist’s impetus, Brussels Airport has adopted an ambitious environmental policy and is seen to engage in intensive communications with local residents. To further improve the accessibility of the airport, the number of rail and bus services to the airport has been expanded in close collaboration with the NMBS/SNCB (the Belgian national railway operator, De Lijn (the regional Flemish public transport agency) and MIVB/STIB (the Brussels public transport operator).
These accomplishments have been achieved courtesy of a new strategy launched by Feist in 2012, which places a premium on the service provided to the passengers and partners at Brussels Airport. Something for which Brussels Airport has repeatedly been singled out for praise in recent years, by way of various aviation and cargo marketing awards and the Travel Magazine Award for Environment and for Social Media.
