Belmond Grand Hotel Europe introduces new ‘glacial’ experiences in St Petersburg

LONDON, UK, 2019-Nov-07 — /Travel PR News/ — Belmond Grand Hotel Europe introduces new ‘glacial’ experiences in St Petersburg, inviting guests to embody the spirit of Russian Wintertime. From learning the graceful art of dancing on ice during a private lesson with a World Champion coach; or sculpting a new frozen masterpiece; to discovering the city on a magical Troika sleigh ride; the sparkling delights of winter are showcased through the newly curated three-night stay escape.

With snow-dusted boulevards and icicles gently hanging from the rooftops of the historic palaces and museums, St Petersburg casts a magical spell during wintertime as the city is transformed by a seasonal blanket of snow – inspiring the nickname ‘White Days’.

Master of the Ice

This winter, Belmond Grand Hotel Europe unveils a special partnership with the Honoured Coach of Russian Figure-Skating, trainer of multiple Olympic and World Champions. Guests can learn how to glide gracefully across the rink in an introduction class unlike any other, taking home a new skill as well as lasting memories.

As host city for the annual ‘Ice Sculpture Festival’, St Petersburg celebrates a long history of carving ice into impressive sculptures. This year, guests of Belmond Grand Hotel Europe, can unleash their creativity as they learn the tradition of transforming blocks of ice, sourced from one of the city’s scenic lakes, into beautifully ornate statues, led by a master sculptor.

Sparkling City Escape

Stepping aboard a magical Troika sleigh ride through the city’s wide, snow-dusted boulevards, guests can chose between a private guided tour of either The Catherine Palace or the spectacular Fabergé Museum.

Returning to the embracing warmth of the timeless hotel, Vodka Sommelier & Caviar Master, Alexander Dmitriev, offers a private masterclass on pairing the nation’s most opulent culinary exports whilst teaching how to distinguish between the nuances of each caviar variety and matching with one of the hotel’s heritage vodkas.

Guests sip a glass of champagne at the glamorous Lobby Bar, the perfect aperitif before an evening of cultural indulgence with tickets to the hotel’s private box in Mikhailovsky Theatre for a captivating ballet performance.

The three-night ‘White Days’ package at Belmond Grand Hotel Europe includes; luxury accommodation, ‘Russian Winter’ daily breakfast at L’Europe, dinner in the Caviar Bar & Restaurant with a special Heritage Menu, two tickets to the hotel’s private box in Mikhailovsky Theatre, a guided Troika ride tour in Pavlovsk or visit to Catherine’s Palace. Bookable from November 1, 2019 – March 23, 2020. A private ice-skating lesson as well as an ice-sculpting class is available upon request at additional cost.
