VIENNA, Austria, 2018-Dec-04 — /Travel PR News/ — Austrian Airlines brought the ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation) Light of Peace from Tel Aviv to Austria for the 32nd time. Flight OS 858 with the special freight on board landed safely at Vienna Airport Wednesday night. The transport was accompanied by this year’s designated light of peace child Niklas Lehner, Light of Peace Project Manager Günther Hartl from the ORF regional studio in Upper Austria and Wolfgang Kerndler, Flight Safety & Security advisor at Austrian Airlines.
The 11-year-old boy lit the ORF Light of Peace in the Grotto of the Nativity in Bethlehem on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, and brought it to Austria with the support of Austrian Airlines. The small light from Bethlehem shines throughout Europe on Christmas Eve, serving as a symbol of Christmas peace.
Austrian Airlines also transports the Light of Peace to New York and to Toronto. From there, the Light of Peace will be spread to the U.S., Canada and parts of South America. In December we will also fly the Light of Peace to Brussels, accompanied by the Governor of Upper Austria. The Light of Peace Campaign was created in 1986 at the initiative of the ORF regional studio in Upper Austria, and has been supported by Austrian Airlines since its inception.
