Arizona Office of Tourism launches its Summer in AZ regional campaign

Regional Campaign Promotes Summer Destinations throughout Arizona

2013-05-22 — /travelprnews.com/ — Summer fun is closer than you think! This week the Arizona Office of Tourism (AOT) launches its Summer in AZ regional campaign, website and sweepstakes marketing the Grand Canyon State’s exhilarating summertime destinations. Launched just in time for Arizonans to start planning summer vacations, the campaign promotes visitation to statewide attractions that are just a short drive away.

Through the campaign’s interactive website, SummerInAZ.com, the three-month regional campaign encourages Arizona residents, as well as travelers from nearby drive markets such as Los Angeles, California, to choose their own Arizona adventure and discover how to experience it.

“Summer is short and we want residents and visitors to start planning Arizona vacations so they can be sure to enjoy it,” said Sherry Henry, AOT director. “With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, many people forget that they don’t have to travel very far to experience a great, well-deserved vacation.”

Whether it’s kayaking down the Colorado River, soaring through the air in a hot air balloon above the Sonoran Desert, relaxing poolside at a world-class resort, or exploring the wonder of the Grand Canyon National Park, the Summer in AZ website is filled with easy-to-travel-to trip ideas and activities.

In addition to the great trip ideas, there is a chance to win a vacation getaway with the Summer in AZ “Pin It 2 Win It” sweepstakes. Website visitors are encouraged to start pinning from the “Pin It 2 Win It” sweepstakes Pinterest board to create the perfect Arizona getaway. Visitors will be automatically entered to win a getaway valued at $1,500.  More details are available at SummerInAZ.com.

The campaign is geared toward travelers in Phoenix and Los Angeles. Advertising will appear in newspapers, magazines and online, and will be supported by mobile, social media, outdoor digital billboards, and cinema placements. All advertising directs consumers to the SummerInAZ.com website, built with responsive design making it accessible to any PC, mobile, or tablet device. AOT collaborated with the Off Madison Ave. + Spin Six marketing firm on the concept, design and execution of this campaign.

AOT continually markets Arizona as a world-class, premier destination to global visitors. As one of Arizona’s most impactful economic drivers, the Arizona tourism industry brings millions of visitors annually to the Grand Canyon State. In 2011, nearly 38 million visitors spent $18.3 billion throughout the state, contributing nearly $51 million each day into Arizona’s economy.

The industry, which produces revenue in all 15 Arizona counties, is also responsible for generating $2.7 billion in local, state and federal tax revenues. This equates to more than $1,030 per Arizona household. Additionally, the Arizona tourism industry employs more than 157,700 Arizona residents. Combined with the secondary employment that is generated, nearly 300,000 Arizona residents are impacted by this vibrant industry throughout the state.
