Aerolineas Argentinas inaugurates its flights to Rio Hondo hot springs

Buenos Aires, 2012-08-29 — /travelprnews.com/ — Last Friday the President of Aerolineas Argentinas, Mariano Recalde, inaugurated the new route to Rio Hondo Hot Springs in Santiago del Estero, this will be the 34th destination for the flag carrier in all of the country.

The International Airport at Rio Hondo Hot Springs was inaugurated on the 24th of July by the Countrys President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, at the same time Aerolineas Argentinas President, Mariano Recalde announced that there would be two weekly flights operating, on Friday and Sunday to the most modern airport in the North West of Argentina.

In the “Santiageno” airport, Recalde, in the presence of the vice governor of the province, Angel Nicolai and officials of the municipality said “we came to comply with what the President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner promised on the 24th of July when she inaugurated the International Airport of Rio Hondo Hot Springs”.

The recovery of the Hot Springs destination is one more step for the recovery of routes that Aerolineas had ceased to operate to and shows the vocation on the Presidents part in ensuring air connectivity for all Argentines, said Recalde.

On his part, the Governor of Rio Hondo, Miguel Roberto Mukdise, commented ” this is a dream come true. The arrival of Aerolineas to Rio Hondo is crucial and very important for local tourism and economy. It is more than many imagined”.

Aerolineas arrives at Rio Hondo Hot Springs with flights operated by Austral with modern Embraer E-190 on Fridays and Sundays leaving Buenos Aires at 14:55 and arriving in Rio Hondo at 16:35, returning at 17:15 and landing at Aeroparque at 18:35.

The new airport where Aerolineas and Austral operate since last Friday has a surface of 1.900 square meters, two floors, two boarding halls, a VIP Lounge and a landing field of 2.600 meters which allows for the operation of Boeing 737 and Embraer aircraft.
