2013-07-05 — /travelprnews.com/ — Aegean Airlines has just announced that it will begin flights to Athens from London Stansted Airport commencing on July 11th 2013.
The route will operate three times per week and will connect easily with a through flight to the islands of Corfu, Kos and Rhodes. It will be the very first airline to offer a business class service and offering to these Greek islands from the UK.
Aegean will connect Stansted Airport to Athens International airport with tri-weekly flights, on Thursday 11th July 2013. The flights will be operated using a brand new Airbus A320 168-seat aircraft, in dual class configuration providing a full service offering to all passengers, which includes complimentary food and drink, as well as one checked piece of baggage 23kgs. Business class passengers and Gold card members will have use of the business lounge at London Stansted Airport and an extra checked piece of baggage.
This additional route is a seasonal one and has been introduced because of the increased demand for flights to Athens from London. Aegean already has 3 daily flights from London Heathrow to Athens so the introduction of these flights from Stansted enables them to increase capacity on the route and also offer more affordable prices. The route will operate for two months until 16th September 2013.
The tri-weekly service will provide passengers with direct access to the Greek capital, as well as making it easier for passengers to continue their journey onwards with a through flight to the islands of Corfu, Kos and Rhodes.

The new route timetable departs from London Stansted airport on Thursday at 17.15, Saturday at 22.05 and Monday at 12.45. Flight time to Athens is approximately 3.55 minutes. Flights depart from Athens on Thursday at 14.30, Saturday at 19.20 and Monday at 10.00.
Through flights to:
- Kos begin on 11th July and then every Thursday departing Stansted at 17.15 arriving at 06.20 next day and returning at 12.45 arriving in Stansted at 16.30
- Corfu begin on 13th July and then every Saturday departing Stansted at 22.05 arriving at 06.30 next day and returning at 17.30 arriving in Stansted at 21.20
- Rhodes begin on 15th July and then every Monday departing Stansted at 12:45 arriving at 20:10 and returning at 08:00 arriving in Stansted at 12:00
Aegean Airlines also operate three daily flights to Athens International Airport from London Heathrow, as well as bi-weekly flights from Manchester Airport to Athens International airport which began on Saturday 25th May 2013.
Aegean Airlines have an introductory offer of £99 for flights from Stansted to Athens and £129 for flights to Corfu and Rhodes (via Athens) economy class.
