ADAC Led A Comprehensive Tour For Students To Promote The Aviation Industry With Younger Generations

Al Yasmina School grade 2 students tour of the Capital’s airport to experience the potential of this dynamic industry in the coming year

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 2013-06-06 — /travelprnews.com/ — As part of its commitment to promoting the aviation industry with younger generations, Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), with the support of Etihad Airways, welcomed last week 127 grade two students from Al Yasmina School to Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH). The visit was focused on teaching the students about how the airport serves the capital and passengers from around the world.

Representatives from the capital’s airport and ADAC welcomed the student delegation and led a comprehensive tour through Terminals 1 & 3. The full tour programme for the students included: A thorough review of a passenger experience and processes at the airport from check-in to the aircraft, learning about passenger check-in procedures and how e-tickets and self check-in stations work, understanding immigration requirements, witnessing first-hand how the conveyor belt system quickly delivers luggage, and visiting food & retail operations.

The 127 students had a feel of the scale of the developments taking place around Abu Dhabi International Airport as they viewed the model of the newly operated Air Traffic Control Tower (ATC) and the 700,000 SQM Midfield Terminal Building (MTB).

Al Yasmina School students were also treated to a pre-flight preparation experience at one of  Etihad Airways’ live flight going to London, where they were briefed by cabin crew on procedures taken ahead of each flight, from catering, cleaning, and maintenance checks, to ensure all passengers enjoy their journey every time. The students also had a chance to speak with the pilot of the flight, and ask him their long thought questions.

Eng. Ahmad Al Haddabi, Chief Operations Officer of ADAC, commented: “ADAC is committed to ensuring that there will be a well-educated and enthusiastic workforce in place to help drive Abu Dhabi’s aviation industry in the future.  Tours of the airport introduces young students to the world of aviation and the limitless potential professions it provides.”

Daren Gale, Principal of Al Yasmina School said:”Hands-on experiences are a vital part of our curriculum at Al Yasmina and we are proud to partner with ADAC and Etihad Airways in order to offer our students an opportunity to learn about different career options.  The students thoroughly enjoyed the insider’s tour of Abu Dhabi International Airport and we look forward to hearing more about their enthusiasm for learning about the aviation industry.”

Founded in 2008, Al Yasmina School is a private, British curriculum school in Abu Dhabi, which offers schooling for grades one through 13. Al Yasmina School won ‘Best School’ in the 2012 Ahlan! ‘Best in Abu Dhabi’ awards.
