Your Airline in the world of Web 2.0: at airberlin it’s the passengers who decide what’s on

2012-10-29 — /travelprnews.com/ — airberlin passengers can now help compile the entertainment programme on long-haul flights at facebook.com/airberlin. Until 29th October the airline’s fans on Facebook can opt for one of the following three film trilogies: The Lord of the Rings, The Godfather or Batman. From January 2013 the trilogy with the most votes will be incorporated into the airline’s inflight entertainment programme. “By involving our passengers in the choice of programmes we are once again demonstrating how we constantly put our slogan of “Your Airline” into action,” says Thomas Ney, Executive Vice President Guest Experience at airberlin.

In addition airberlin is one of the first airlines in Germany to have its own Instagram account. Users can upload photos via their smartphones to the social networking platform and apply various effects to the pictures before sharing them with other Instagram members. “We are already finding a large number of photos of our aircraft on Instagram, some of which are real works of art,” said André Rahn, Senior Vice President Marketing at airberlin.

Back at the start of October, the airline invited its Facebook fans to send in photos of themselves in order to decorate this year’s Christmas aircraft with the pictures. Friends of the airline must be looking forward to seeing the design. The Christmas aircraft will be unveiled at the start of the Santa Claus Tour in the run-up to Christmas and is once again sure to attract a great deal of attention wherever it goes.
